I put in a new portable dehumidifier last week. The humidity in the room was 65% when I switched the unit on (outdoor ~90%). After like 15 minutes the humidity reaches the preset humidity level of 50%, the unit shuts off and after only ~1-2 minutes the dehumidifier switches on and the cycle starts again. I tried to set the humidity level to 45% and let the unit run for like 12 hours. The humidity reached the preset level. The dehumidifier was running the whole time in similar cycle as described above and the collected water, after 12 hours, was about 1 quart. When I shut the unit of (after 12 hours) it took the humidity in the room only about 3 minutes to get back to 65%. I tried the same in very small room (60 sqft) with the same result (just less water in the bucket). I have no experience with dehumidifiers! Is this the way these units are supposed to run? Are they running the whole time or aren't they supposed to reduce the humidity in the room, shut off for a longer period before they start again? Every help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.
