Canon Canoscan 9950F keeps saying it needs to be unlocked but it already is! Restarting Scanner or Computer, unplugging everything, quitting and restarting PhotoShop with the driver didn't solve the problem.

I have scanned a photograph once, but in trying to re-scan to adjust size, it tells me it can't scan because either the lamp is not working or the image is not right or the protective sheet is in place. I have checked all these and also the diagnostic test, which the scanner passed. I am using an Inspiron 1720, but having scanned one image successfully, I doubt if it is the computer. Help, please!
