Question about Mustek A3 USB Flatbed Scanner

1 Answer

Installation problems Am having problems with Mustek P3600 A3 Pro Scanner drivers - they appear to not to load properly although device manager on Win XP SP2 PC says no fault with the hardware. The "panel" comes up on screen but hangs during scan. Have tried complete uninstall and reinstalling - same issue reappears.

Re: Installation problems

Did you plug the scanner in before installing the software? Common mistake... Disconnect the scanner, uninstall the software completely, re-boot, open up the Device Manager, Click View-->Show Hidden devices--> Look for any scanner related drivers that are still installed for the scanner (they will moste likely be grayed out since it is unplugged) and uninstall them (Right click-->Uninstall). Re-boot again, install the software, wait for the software install to prompt you to plug in the device. Follow the quick start guide if it came with one. Check the manufacturers web site for updated drivers, software for you model.

The cable works but the machine doesn't start.

A scanner has to warm up, if the bulb does not come on to warm up, it wont start. Check the bulb first.

Is there a vista driver for the Mustek scanner A3 EP, which happens to be parallel port equipment.

Hi, Mustek doesn't appear to have released a Vista driver for this scanner. If you go to Mustek's A3 EP support page, there is only a Windows 2000 driver, which seems to be the same one for Windows XP. Have you tried using this driver in Vista, to see if it works?

Mustek a3 usb 1200 pro scanner problem

I bought one a couple of years ago. After plenty of hit-miss after trying to get it to work on my fresh XP installations, I have a solution. Installing it the normal way simply doesn't work.

First, go to 'start', 'control panel' then 'system'. Click the 'hardware tab' then press 'device manager'. You'll see a list of hardware.

If your scanner is already plugged in, find it (it could be listed under 'imaging' or under 'other devices'. You should see a yellow exclamation point indicating it's there but not working.

If you go to 'control panel... system' first, and then plug in your scanner, it will pop up automatically.

Now, right click on it, select 'update driver'. A window pops up. Insert the CD, then select 'have disk' and install normally.

Installing the remaining software is optional (acrobat 4.05 and so on)

I've used the "Panel" to scan my pics. Working like a charm.
