My machine has run perfectly for the last year, have the following spec'd machine.
Asus P5N 32 Sli Premium Mobo
Intel Core Duo Quad 6600
Corsair XMS 2 DDR 2 RAM
800 Watt PSU
Ati Radeon X1950 Pro 512 Meg Video Card
Windows XP Pro
As stated the machines worked perfectly then all of a sudden mid task the machine locked up, tried to reset it and the machien wont post anymore, I have tried all the usual stuff changing out ram, using minimal hardware connected, but the system does not BEEP at all when powered on, al the fans turn even the video card, the mobo light is on etc, but no Hard Drive activity at all.
Is this likely to be the mobo or the CPU guys as Ive already forked out for a new video card thinking that had failed as the fan on it was a bit noisy like the bearing were on the way out ?
Hi,
There is a couple of things you can do to troubleshoot this.
If there is an on-board VGA (video) port on the back, try that.
Clear the CMOS. On that spec board there should be a coloured plastic jumper next to or near the motherboard battery like this >>>>>
If there is no jumper then remove the power cord from the back and take the motherboard battery out for half an hour then replace and see if you get a post screen.
If it still suffers from the same symptoms then there could be micro fissures between solder points on the motherboard as Intel's tend to run fairly hot.
This means you have to re-float the motherboard and is a last resort repair.
If you need anymore help or advice please post back.
Good luck.

thanks for the response, I have already tried the battery removal for resettig the BIOS, so Im guessing its probably a motherboard issue, the strange thing is I have another PC also with an ASUS motherboard althogh a different model and the same thing happened to this one last night, although after a few tries it did power up again eventually.
Just makes me think theres some issue wiht ASUS boards in general :/
