Remote control for Sharp TV

Accidentally hit the tamper proof button on the remote while watching a VCR last night. Could not turn the tv off, no button functions would work. Unplugged it, tried again 3 more times and the tamper proof key light on the front of the tv comes on now when I plug the tv in, but no picture. I can't find the booklet that came with the tv. I'm sure it is in some box in the garage. Tried looking on the tv for a button to reset the tv - none. Tried hitting buttons at the same time on the remote and tv to get the tamper proof light to come off, and nothing. Any ideas?
