call sony even if your console is out of warenty i had the same problem a couple of months back and warenty was expired by a few months i called them and they gae me a refurbished ps3 free
If your set was manufactured around July 2005, you may need a firmware upgrade to solve this issue. On the Sony website you can enter your model # and serial # to see if you TV is affected. If so, it is easy to have done and may be free from Sony. It sounds like the issue they described in the writeup on the required formware update. I had mine done within few months of when i bought it (purchased in Dec 2005) and it has been working flawlessly since.
I have this one and it works in a different way so this may help everyone struggling.
1. Turn off the earpiece if it isn't already on 2. Press and hold the power key - when it comes on in about 5 seconds, keep pressing the button 3. About 3 seconds later, the light should change from a steady pulse to a solid light, you can then release your by-now-sore finger 4. Start searching for the device on your mobile (or other device) 5. Pair it when found (if this doesn't happen automatically) and enter the passcode 0000 when prompted. 6. All done
Hope this helps those struggling with Rob's solution,
