Dishwasher Problem

I have a Moffat dishwasher, I am not sure how old it is, it came with my condo when I bought it in January 2006. I ran the dishwasher on Tuesday evening, when my brother went to empty it on Thursday morning, it did not clean the dishes and the water did not drain. When the washer was running it sounded like the water was running, but there was a funny rubbery smell comming from the it while it was running.
