LG 42PC3RV module LGEPDP burned hybrid IC

TV is LG 42PC3RVI found burned module LGEPDP 060908...fuse FS1 burned and hybrid IC2 was in short. Voltage Vs=188 V and Va=60 V...OK.
I changed all module but immidatly after replacment and switching on hybrid IC was burned again !!!
I measured resistance beetween SUS electrode and the chassis-but it doesn't show any short. Resistance is very high.
Is it mean PDP is faulty?

Can we replace the hybrid modules found in plasma TVs like STK795-821, STK795-820, YPPD-J014, YPPD-J015, YPPD-J016, YPPD-J017, YPPD-J018, YPPD-J014C, YPPD-J017C? I mean not replacing the whole module?

You mean you want to repair them instead of replacing the module? Yes you can, you need a hot plate for this though. They are single layer PCBs on a aluminum substrate. Most often the power FETs or IGBTs will be damaged.

I heard small pop then lost power while watching my lg 50pg20. No red or blue lights on the power switch. What could be wrong?

you are describing a power supply defect. IT may be as simple as the main fuse. I believe the one in this set is a 6.5 amp located on the ps board right by cord connection. IF after replacing the fuse opens a second time you will need to replace the power board.

This is an indication that you have a short on the power supply section.

It can't be fixed by replacing the fuse alone. I've suspected that you have a short on the following parts :

1.Power Cord - even very low of chances but still to be check. This is due to frequent bending and pulling.

2.Rectifier diode

3.Main filter electrolytic capacitor

4.Voltage regulator I.C.

This is the common parts that might be shorted and made the fuse blew. #2-4 is quite technical and need an expert to do the job so I

Burning smell and dark screen

Needs new hybrid ic on ysus board. There was probably a short in it somewhere.

If the tv is worth it, a new ysus will cost about $50 upward.

Z sus board fault

When ever either the Z or the Y main goes out, all of us service co's replace the Y main, Y up/lower drive boards and the Z at the same time. Now you will have to start all over. I just had a Samsung 50" that required all 4. It is a must with Plasma sets. Hope this helps.

My Plaxma flat screen, AKAI PDP4294 is dead

Well, I will tell you Jim that plasma flat screens as a whole are having similar problems without regard to brand or model. Part of this problem with others has been the poor quiet fan cooling setup they have in them to say the least. The problem you have experienced is in the voltage regulator section of your power supply. Without being able to see exactly the section the IC2 is in I would have to look at a good schematic to find the right part # for. However, through my experience oveer the years I usually go ahead and desolder the part and take it to a large electronic supply house and they are usually more often than not able to identify the component for you without a schematic. However as you said and you are correct in thinking that the plasma tv you have may give you a similar problem in the future without any added cooling fans on the back cover. Do not be deceived though because LCDs over 32" and above suffer similar problems with the added one that they have images that actually burn-in to the screen much like computer monitors and that is annoying as well. Even if your tv is more than 2 years old and past the warranty period, you may be successful in getting it replaced with a new one because you have a very common problem occuring here that I know the manufacturer knows about. Most plasmas are rate to have 60,000 hours of use which is 20 years, they just have not developed or been around long enough to substantiate that claim. Good luck and God bless.
