It's time to replace the drum, but if quality is still OK, then you open the front door, press the go button until the lights flash and the drum life will be reset.

Resetting Blinking Toner Light HL-2140

Here is the procedure for resetting the Toner flashing light on Brother HL-2140 (sources for other answers here and self testing - specific to HL-2140)
  • Open the front cover and leave open.
  • Turn the printer off.
  • Hold the "white button" while turning the printer on. (All panel lights should be on.)
  • Release the "white button".
  • Press the "white button" 2 times (Pause, wait for all lights to come on.)
  • Press the "white button" 5 times. (All lights to come on again, then go out.)
  • Cancel "maintenance driver" install, if prompted
  • Close cover.
  • Power cycle printer.

This will:
  • reset the toner light (stop blinking)
  • restore the printing darkness (when toner light flashes, printer prints lighter to save toner)
  • keeps the printed page counts and drum life info

Ghost printing

Hello,

You have a worn image drum. The drum is the part of the printer that the print image is created on before it transfers the toner to the paper. This part is coated with a very thin layer of Teflon so the toner does not stick. When it gets worn the toner starts to stick and that produces the shadow or ghost image approximately 3 inches down the page because the diameter of the drum roller is 3 inches. You will need to get the part DR-350, Office Depot has them as well as many places on the internet.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Brother HL 5250 red light flashing

I found this solution on the web-- Hope it helps.

The HL-2070N gets stuck in a toner end-of-life error condition. Perform the following to clear :
With paper loaded, new toner in,

Open front door
Turn off printer
While holding down the GO button, turn printer back on
When all four LEDs light up release GO button. All LEDs will turn off
Press the GO button 2 times. The 3 LEDs (toner, drum, paper) will light up solid
Press the GO button 5 times
Paper light will be blinking
At this point the toner end-of-life condition has been reset. Close front door.
BTW, I got this from Brother Support. Also, just a reminder, timing is important here so don't pause between button presses.

Yellow Toner Light Flashes - won't print

f the Drum LED is still lit after replacing the drum unit, the Drum counter may not be reset.
Reset the Drum counter as follows:

  1. Open the front cover.
  2. Locate the control panel button under the LED lights on the left side.
  3. Press the control panel button until all lights are lit, then release it.
The Drum counter is now reset.

Dell printer 1700

First unplug power cord and plug back after 10 mins.
If problem persists, then it is probably a toner error, if the toner is nearly finished. In this case you will see the led flashing only when is printing. Sooner or later the printer will start printing blank or faded pages and you will need to change toner
When is not toner, with same symptoms as above, it can be drum error, in this case printer will keep printing but shows flashing light, at a certain point you will need to change drum kit.

If light flashes and printer does not print, then it is either paper jam inside, or one of errors above at final stage, or one of the door not well closed (check them all), or printer faulty (fuser, heads mechanics etc.), in this last case call service.
