Re: No Disc

Try polishing the laser with a qtip, the laser might just be dirty.

Re: No Disc

The lazer being dirty doesn't affect the spinning of the disk, just the reading of the disc. OMG

The drive needs repairs, or replacement. Check your warranty you may still have it and in that case you will most likely get free repairs.

My samsung ht-x200 wont play dvds or cds it just displays no disc

Have you tried cleaning the laser with a DVD Cleaning Disc or more in depth by removing the top cover and using DVD Cleaning Fluid & QTips.

If you've tried both these without success then I'm affraid that your laser has failed and in most cases even when replacement lasers are available it's not cost effective to replace it.

Hi Zainab

The issue usually related to more than one possibilities. First possibility; the obstacle in front of laser beam lens. Sometime by natural causes the DVD lens collect tiny amount of dust which makes the laser reflection on CD weaker. since copied DVDs has different track structure it might be better reflected.

Second possibility is your region code has been changed. Copied DVDs usualy come with region "0". You might try to set your region again.

You may perform lens cleaning by obtaining an easy to find DVD cleaner set.

This problem is with my home theater HT-TZ512. The disc sometimes loads, plays for 15-30 minutes, then randomly stops. The picture is still on screen. It looks like I pressed the pause button. When I...

You need to try a DVD Laser Lens Cleaning Disc.

If this doesn't work then you'll need to remove the cover and clean the Laser Lens with some Lens Cleaning Fluid and a QTip. Just use a few drops on the QTip and then wipe over again with a dry one.

If the above fails then its the Laser that's failing which isn't normally cost effective to replace.

A good way to check is if it will still play CDs but not DVDs then its the Laser.

The dvds are not detected - No Disc or Disc Error

Hi. These steps should help.
  1. Check the disc you're using for scratches and dirt. If the disc is damaged it won’t play properly, regardless of the DVD player’s ability to function. You can use a DVD repair device like the "Disc Doctor" to repair the DVD or purchase a new DVD.
  2. Make sure the discs you're using fit the correct format specified by your DVD player. For example, if your DVD player doesn’t support home-burned DVD-R's, then you can’t use a DVD that you made at home. You may need to upgrade to a newer model, most of which accept the latest DVD formats.
  3. Clean the laser lens with a DVD laser lens cleaning disc. DVD laser lens cleaning discs can be purchased at most electronics retailers or online. Insert the laser lens cleaning disc and follow the instructions.
  4. Insert a correctly-formatted, undamaged disc into your player. Listen to see if it begins to read the disc. If it continues to make no sound and gives you the same message, then the problem is probably that your disc is not spinning in the device.
  5. Turn the device off and unplug it. Take off the outer casing by removing the three or four screws and lifting the top piece off. This will allow you to see if anything is simply stuck or jammed. If this is the case, a simple nudge back to the correct position will fix the problem.
  6. Clean the lens while the DVD player is open. A dirty lens is most likely the cause of your no-disc error. The lens should be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab.
  7. Take your DVD player to have it professionally fixed only when none of these other solutions solves the problem. A professional repair technician will be able to tell you if fixing your DVD player is worth the money.

if the disc starts to rotate when helped by hand then you definately have a weak spindle motor. dvds spin faster than cds which gives more wear & tear to the motor. i've repaired these faults numerous times. hope this helps?

It wont play dvds!!! Help!!! Panasonic SC-HT520

You can try a CD/DVD Cleaner Disk ($3-$5). Some sell for $15, don't know if you'll get better results. If it doesn't work, then you have a laser alignment issue that needs calibrating. The labor is likely to cost more than a new DVD player.

Disc load error

DVDs spin at constant linear velocity. This means that the disc can be spinning slowly or relatively fast, depending on where the laser is positioned on the disc and what function is being used at the time....accordianman

Tempremental playing dvds

In response to your jvc-a75r DVD player, sometimes the solution might be less complex than it may appear. Had the same problem with my Samsung s321,the machine refused to read DVD's but would play CD's no problem. Simply opened up the cover(usually)4-6 small screws, and found my dog's hair inside of the player covering the laser eye.Electrostatic ionization attracts dust, etc. into the player remarkably well sometimes. Carefully used a cotton swap to remove debri. PLayerworked fine afterwards ...Good luck!
