Flip the LCD and lay it flat. It should work.

How do you fix a dm4 Hinge that is broke where it connects to the screen

You can buy hinges on ebay at:

http://www.ebay.com

Just type your computer make and model in the search followed by lcd hinges.

If the hinges are broken where the lcd screen connects to the base of the laptop then you will have to remove the screws from the bottom of the laptop and remove the strip that is at the top of the keyboard to get to them.

If the hinges on the side of the lcd frame is broken then you will have to remove the plastic strip that is around the lcd screen. Remove the plastic or rubber bumpers on the plastic strip then you will see screws to remove to remove the plastic strip. Then you will see hinges and screws on the side of the lcd screen that you can remove. Once you have them removed you can lean the lcd lid forward so that it drops in your hand. Don't let it drop on the keyboard, just into your hand and not too far because there is a cable on the back of the lcd that you don't want to damage. The cable can be taken loose from from the lcd at the back near the top if you like. Sometimes there might be a piece of tape securing it. If the lcd screen does not come out then there are screws on the 4 corners that is securing it and the hinges.

How to replace lcd screen? where to buy?

Hi,
It's probably cheapest to buy a broken "donor" camera off ebay etc. LZ7 is a fairly popular camera and you're eventually bound to find one with e.g. broken lens-which you could scavenge for replacement LCD.
Swapping LCD on LZ7 is relatively easy-undo the screws holding the back cover (make note which screw goes where as they are not the same), then carefully lift the cover a bit just to see two ribbon cables for the LCD. Disconnect both ribbon cables by carefully prying the "black bits" on the connectors open and sliding the ribbon cables out(Not the best description but it should be obvious once you see them). Once you separate the back cover, remove the screen itself by undoing the catches which hold it onto the case.
Hope this helps-
Good luck,
Raf

Replace LCD monitor on Sony DSLR a350

The You-Tube video is useful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dP0Yr4YXM9Y
Care must be taken when removing the ribbon-cable connector from its mating half on the camera ribbon-cable.
The black strip on the mating connector has to be flipped back, away from the display ribbon, to release the display ribbon.
Then after locating the new ribbon fully home, the same black strip has to be flipped forward in the direction of the display ribbon and pressed down to clamp this connector in place. All this is shown, but quickly in the video.
Do not touch the bare surface of the new display or the inside surface of the removed display protective surface which has an optical coating which easly shows fingerprints.

Buy and replace broken lcd screen

You may be able to fix it yourself if you can find a replacement screen, and you have some basic experience and are comfortable with electronics. Usually there's no soldering involved, with replacement merely requiring unplugging and reinserting the screens ribbon cable in it's connector. I usually search ebay for a broken camera with other problems that I can cannibalize. Here's some examples on LCD replacement:

Broken lcd z650 digital Camera

Well LCDs can be replaced but they are hard to since they are attached to extremely fine wires.

Your options are
1) try to get it fixed at the manufacturer (they will charge you for part + service)
2) buy the part on ebay and try to look for a service manual (quite hard as the plugs for lcd cables are clips that break). But its the cheapest
3) Buy a new camera (variation in cost) (recommended brand canon or nikon)

Screen i broken

Yes it can be fixed.  Depending on where you live will depend on what you do next.  you can go to any phot repair shop and they will either have the part and can fix it there or they will need to send it out.

Either way, it'll be cheaper than buying a new camera.

Camera reading when you turn it on

I guess that when you changed the LCD the flex strip cable to the switch on the back panel was disturbed. Try re-seating The flex strip in it's connector. Otherwise the switch itself may have sprung apart or be broken. Online auctions are a good source of spare parts!
