I been spending the pas 15 min trying to load the stupid cartridges, the cartridge doesnt even align completely on the holder, and there is nothing to click it onto

  • 9286 Feb 19, 2008

also have that problem, theres nothing for the cartridge to click into.

  • Anonymous Feb 28, 2008

I had the same problem! Stupid me. I read back to the previous page and I should have plugged it in. When I did, the moter began to run and the cartridges holder moved from the right to the left and the cartridges were able to pop right in to it. The entire problem was the power needed to be on.

    **** PRINTER!!!!

  • jencampbell1 Mar 07, 2009

I bought a canon mp470 which began having printing problems after about 2-3 months of use. I purchased 2 sets of black and color ink cartridges in hopes to resolve the issue with no success. I was not able to align the cartridges with the print head. I thought that the print head was bad possibly. I bought a new printer and the mp470 has been sitting on a shelf. I was hoping to find a part and repair it, but after reading this site, It may just be a defect.

I figured it out!
For all those who have problems clicking it into place it's probably the printer's not on. Turn it on an the top half of the cartridge holder which is connected to the printing head should slide to the left part of the printer when it's on, then slide the cartridges in an click in.

Plug it in. Turn machine on....wait a few seconds until the printer cartridge tray moves itself all the way to the left and stops.

You have to put them in with the front bottom side of the ink cartridge resting on the tray and cartridge back as far as it will go. Gently push the cocked ink cartridge up until it clicks in place.

Best I can explain.

I spent the past hour trying to insert the ink cartridges. My problem turned out to be that the holders were, for some reason, on the right rather than the left side of the mechanism. I gently pullled them to the left and was then able to insert the cartridges. Super frustrating. I spent 60 minutes thinking that I wasn't as smart as a 5 year old but it was the freaking machine's inability to posiiton the cartridges holders correctly that was to blame.

The installation is easy .. so easy than a 5 year old kid could do it.
all you have to do is's on the manual!!

The great big red-n-white "quick start" guide - to me - made the cartridge installation MUCH easier. Mine slid in at a slight angle just as Canon noted they should ... then snapped UP into place with a secure "CLICK!". Absolutely ZERO problems on the first try - and this prints like a PIXMA alright: First print was dead-on perfect.

I also just set up this printer. Inserting the cartridge is tricky but not diificult. Just plave the cartridges in the each slot until they can no longer move forward. Then you simply the cartridge up until you the hear the click, you have to use a little force to ensure it clicks.

What type of ink cartridge does this cannon pixma mp 160 printer use

Look inside the instruction book that came with the printer. It lists the proper number of the items required even Ink for your printer. You have to buy the right size. Or look online on the web under Canon PIXMA MP160 All-in-One InkJet Printer. Maybe even just look under Canon Printers and it will lead you to the correct type number of ink cartridges required for your machine. Make sure you get the correct number, size etc....and follow directions how to install. Did you know, I found out Ink Cartridges are ALMOST the SAME PRICE AS The Entire Printer???? that ink costs a bundle! at least me, I think I found my Ink replacements online purchase on sale, at OfficeMax. I had to orderr online, then go pick it up at the store itself. It was more expensive than the printer was! what the heck?????julie

My Pixma MP 150 is flashing E 5. Any remedy?

Mainly this error is related to ink cartridge. 1 Its setting - installing/removing 2 Replacing 3 Re-seating 4 Installing the correct ink cartridge.
If you have the user guide/manual with you can do it yourself.
If the above process does not solve the problem then it means that the printer require repair for which you have to refer to the nearest Canon service center

Mty printer is a PIXMA MP 470 it has an error code saying 'print head is not installed, install print head' It wont do anything or let me even go onto the menu??????

There are 2 ink cartridges that came with the printer (PG-40 and CL-31). These are the consumables that are also print head. You must install these in your printer.

Follow the setup guides/manuals that came with your printer. If you can't find them, they're downloadable from Canon's website.

hope this helps you.. please kindly vote.. thanks

What is error e5 in mp 198 printer

E5 - The ink cartridges are not installed or a non-supported ink cartridge is installed , or the ink cartridges are not installed properly..

  • In certain models of Canon Pixma printers such as the Canon MP160 and Canon MP150, you may receive an E5 error when trying to print. In this state, you will not be able to use any of the functions of your printer. The error itself is an ink cartridge error. It may be that you are using generic or off-brand ink cartridges in your Canon Pixma printer. Canon Pixma printers do not work with other brands of print cartridges; invest in Canon brand ink cartridges and this should take care of your problem.
