Depending on the depth of the scratch, you should be able to sand them out- this does require basic knowledge of grit progression and also requires practice going straight with the grain. Try first with a 180 grit paper, you may be able to finish sand with this grit. The final grit or "grain" is between 180 and 240. After the final sanding which "stretched" the area use a scotch brite #7447 pad. The pad purchase at a Nappa or Carquest type store. While there buy the sticky back sand paper- its easier to keep going in straightline with grain. Start out with light pressure till you are confident in maintaining straight sanding. Finish cleaning and maintaining with DeBruce Polish. Debruce Polish is non-toxic and odorless- its all we use on our stainless steel and cook tops. We buy DeBruce Polish at debrucepolish.com, you will love it. Be patient.
