- Rich this is brittruiz07 My Maytag washer is a Neptune FAV6800AW I tried everything you said but it still wont work. The light still says it's locked but I'm able to open the door. When the door does lock (which takes about a minute to lock) the cycle does not start. Normally you can hear when the water start flowing. Can you please help again. ThanksAug 14, 2009
- There is no error codes on the control board, I also disconnected the washer power cord for 10 seconds and it did not show the "--" that you said, it still showed the errors that where there before. This are the errors 23, 05, 84, 05,84, 02, 23, 10, 03. When I start a Quick Wash Cycle it only shows the amount of time it's going to take, not an error code. I'll be waiting for your response. Thank you. Brittruiz07

Hi brittruiz07, I’m an owner like you and will try to help.
Is your machine type a FAV6800AW or FAV9800AW? I need to know the model number this is important.
With this condition I assume both lid locks retract allowing you to open the lid and no water flows into the wash tub and you take no error codes to the display is this correct?
The Lid is Locked LED lit and if the water valves are not not signaled on at the start of the wash cycle this issue could be related could be related to a Control Board issue. I don't want to say failure just yet. Let's see if the Control Board will let you get into Service Mode. With no error codes to start the troubleshooting process with we need to enter Service Mode and vview machine Error Code History.
To enter Service Mode press and hold simultaneously the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or until the control beeps and the display reads “00”.
This is from the Service Manual; this process starts on page 17 in the Service Manual.
In Service Mode press the Wrinkle Control key.
The display will show a “d”.
The diagnostic codes can be viewed by using the Set Delay Time arrow keys. Pressing the Set Delay Time down arrow key will cycle down the list one code at a time each time it is pushed. Please right down each code such 4, 18, 22 etc.
If there are no error codes in the Control Board memory the display will read “- -“ that’s two dashes in the display. I feel you will have many Error Codes from previous wash cycles. I just want to get a feel for the Error Code history.
Next I want you to hard reset the Control Board by pulling the disconnecting the washer power cord for ten seconds then reconnect washer power. Go back into Service Mode and make sure all Error Codes have cleared you should only see “- -“. Press the off button to back out of Service Mode.
Start a Quick Wash cycle with minimal machine settings and no clothes in the basket.
If the washer fails to start the Quick Wash cycle as you described in your initial post how long did it take for the machine to unlock the lid? Did any water flow into the tub and were there any Error Codes sent to the display? Please go back and read the error code list and let me know what error codes you see from this Quick Wash cycle attempt. I know this is painful but we need to start somewhere.
You can pump out excess water when you fail with dc/UC unbalance errors with this process from the Service Manual.
Close the lid and enter the Service Mode by pressing and holding simultaneously the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or the display reads “00”
Press the Delicates key this will lock the lid.
Now press the Presoak key the drain pump will turn on.
Turn off the drain pump by hitting the off button or hit the Presoak key.
Rich

- Hello brittruiz07,
So you see no error codes once you press the Start button for a Quick Wash Cycle? What does the display show? Is the display blank, indicate time remaining for Quick Wash cycle, or I hope an Error Code?
Did you follow the process to get into Service Mode to read the diagnostic Error codes in your FAV6800AW? That is important if you receive no Error Codes to the display after you press the Start button to begin a Quick Wash cycle. If the Control Board will not let you into Service Mode we have issue that may not allow a DIY fix for you.
Can you try to get into Service Mode and follow the steps to read the Error Code list? Write down all codes displayed then follow my suggestion to power down/power up the machine and see if you can start and complete a Quick Wash Cycle as normal. If not re-enter Service Mode to read the diagnostic codes and report the findings.
This is what Service Repair person would do to get feel for how to move forward in troubleshooting the issue. If you can do that and let me know what you find. This will help me possibly understand if the issue simple or complex and reach a decision point of a DIY fix or to call in a repair company for a quote to repair. I’ll work with you until you pull the plug on the process. Rich

- “”also disconnected the washer power cord for 10 seconds and it did not show the "--" that you said,””
My error I thought I cleared the memory with a quick 10 sec power down. I was wrong, I forced some errors into my machine and the power cycle did not clear the error code contents of my machine. Can you re-enter service mode again and view the error code list then while viewing the list clear the error code list by doing this; To clear the diagnostic list press the QuickWash and Whites keys simultaneously while viewing the list. The cycle count for each diagnostic code will also be reset to 0, but not the machine cycle count. Then using the down/up arrow make sure the error codes are purged from the Control Board memory.
We then need to try the Quick Wash cycle test again and have the machine fail to start then re-enter Service Mode and let me know what error codes are present. What makes this difficult for me is there are no error codes to the display with this issue.
Some of these error codes probably have been in the machine for a while. I do see some lid lock error codes and unbalance error codes. I’m not sure what the error code 84 or if that’s machine cycle count. You can view the error code meaning on pages 17 & 18 of the Service Manual.
Quick beak down of codes;
23 = Lid lock is locked and a user tries to start a cycle.
05 = Continuous unbalanced circuit. Out of balance circuit.
02 = Lid failed to unlock after multiple attempts
10 = Unbalance or cabinet hit detected during final spin, which prevented the spinner from exceeding 500 rpm
03 = Total fill 14 minutes exceeded. This is a no water fill condition the machine should have sent an "nf" code to the display for the failure to fill the washer. Have you ever seen a “nf” code in the display?
The issue of the lid taking a minute to lock is key to this issue. And the issue of the lid locks releasing with the lid lock LED still lit is a wrong signaling condition. We may have a Control Board failure but let’s see what we get for error codes on this next test. I know your wash load are backing up and I won’t continue to have you chase this failure if we can’t get our arms around a troubleshooting path.
Maybe we can get other forum members to chime in with their thoughts on this issue.
