Do you mean it can't pass the boot screen? Does that mean if you leave it for an hour it is still trying to start up?

I have a single installation of Ubuntu 11.10. How do I remove it and install Windows 7? Have tried from the Windows boot disk but I dont know what my drive letter is as Ubuntu does not name it????

Hi,
You can use the windows disk to over-write the ubuntu installation. Just boot from the windows disk, and when it asks where to install, tell it to format the disk and create a partition from the unpartitioned space. Windows will format the disk and you should be good to go. Keep in mind, everything on the disk will be lost.

Help

The issue you have described with your portable device in most cases can be resolved by formatting your device. Please follow these steps even if you have already attempted them once before.

Please note that this will remove all music from your device.

Formatting the device in Windows Media Player

1. Open Windows Media Player with your MP3 player connected to the computer

2. At the top of windows Media Player select the Sync tab at the top

3. The MP3 player should be recognized on the right hand side and say "Your Player Name"

4. Above the player name is a button that says "Format Storage Media1.gif" click this button to erase all the data1.gif from the player

5. Continue with the acknowledgement of erasing all data on disk.

6.Get a firmware upgrade done if you have not done so...

Formating player

Go to Samsung's support site. You can download the manuals and software from there, normally however the YH-925 is managed through Windows Media Player (excuse my language ;-), with the player plugged in you should be able to select it from the left-hand side to get it's management console. It's been some time since I was last forced to suffer Windows so things may have changed, download the manual(s) and if needed the software from the link above for full, plain-English instructions.

Hard disk prob

hard disk is bad.
can you format?
  1. Detach the Zen player from your PC , and ensure that the Zen Sleek is turned off.
2. Connect the power supply to the player.
3. Hold down the Play/Pause button while inserting a paper clip into the Reset hole
underneath your player, beside the data/power connector. Keep on holding the
Play/Pause button while you release the Reset button. The Rescue Mode screen will
then appear.
4. After the recovery mode has started, release the Play/Pause button

It will display the following options.
Clean Up Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.
Does not affect music files themselves.
Format (All) Caution! Erases all content!
Save a copy of your player's content before formatting.
Reload OS/ Firmware Caution! Erases your player's firmware.
DO NOT select the Reload Firmware option unless you have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to install.
Reboot Reboots the device.

I cant format my mp3 player

Did you try formatting it from software or the process through My Computer. If you used software process try this other way below.

To format your device first click on "Start" then click on "My Computer" now look for your mp3 player, if it hasn't been change the names usually called "Removable Disk", once you've found that right-click on it then click on "Format".

Good luck. Hope my solution was helpful.

How do i reformat the internal media?

You can format MP3 Player 2 ways: 1) Plug it into a computer and when it comes up as a disk drive in my computer, right click on it and click format. Choose the filesystem as FAT (not NTFS). OR 2) Format from the MP3 Player Disk Tool or options. If this doesn't do the trick then get back to me. Thanks, Lolita

Formatted but only have 1.3GB left

Hi. Try to format this player on "Disk Management" while applying the correct File System type (FAT32) to get better results. Here are the steps: 1. Set your player to MSC mode by using using the Menu to navigate to this selection: Menu >> Settings >> USB Mode, then select "MSC" 2. Plug the E260 to your computer. Your computer should recognize the player as a "Removable Drive" and it should appear with a Drive letter when browsed in Windows Explorer. 3. Open the "Computer Management" window by right-clicking on the "My Computer" icon and selecting "Manage" 4. Locate and left-click on "Disk Management" (located on the center section on the left pane of the window) 5. The right pane "Disk Management" window has an upper and lower portion. The both portions would display the Sansa E620 icon with a corresponding drive letter. Right-click on either icon and select "Format" 6. When the "Format" window appears, make sure that the File System is set to "FAT32", and that the "Quick Format" checkbox on the bottom of that screen remains un-checked. Click on "Start" to begin formatting your player. Follow the on-screen prompts 7. When the format process is complete, the E260 should display the correct capacity (approximately 3.8 GB) 8. Feel free to switch the mode back to MTP. I hope this helps. Let me know on the results. There may be other solutions I could offer. Syd :)
