Question about Mitsubishi WD-62827 62" Television

1 Answer

Vertical line down the center of screen

I have a Mitsubishi flat-screen WD-62827. There is a vertical line down the center of the screen-- to the right of this line is a perfect picture, but to the left of this line is cartoonish with a terrible picture. Exactly half of the screen is blurry. Practically simultaneously, the bulb signal began blinking, indicating a new bulb is needed. I replaced the bulb but the problem with the picture persists so obviously that was not the issue. PLEASE HELP...

Re: Vertical line down the center of screen

A WD62827 is a V30+ chassis and is a DLP format projection screen Tv, not a flat screen, am I missing something?? For the symptoms you're describing with a WD62827 remove and reseat the DVI cable between the chassis and optical engine. If removing and reseating the DVI cable does not resolve the issue you may need to replace the Optical Engine part # 938P019020
BTW the current software version for this unit is 7.04.1F if you have anything less you might think about updating the software also..
Hope this helps!

White vertical lines across the screen. Why and what can be done? Thw white lines appear and stay all the way across the screen. They are about 1.5" inbetween each vertical line,

You have a failure in the vertical circuit. Service can run between $75 to $150 depending on your area.(In home repair will cost more) If set is older then 3 years and under 27" recommend replacing it.

I believe the format, or FMT board is going bad. this is not a do it yourselfer type repair, unless you have extensive electronics background - I have one myself with the same problem. I am waiting to get a new FMT board for mine.

Sounds like insufficient vertical sweep and the top lines are getting out of control.
Check all the electrolytic caps in the vertical circuit for testing dry (sorry - takes a special meter to do it in circuit) or just replace them. Look the I.C. up in the free NTE crossreference at get a diagram of its pinout to find what pins the power and outputs are on.
Hope ya fix it!

Re: black line across the top of screen!

Is it a bias line or is it there constantly? A biased line goes away as the set warms up and that could be caps in the digital board. If it's there all the time the LE or color wheel could be bad. Need a bit more information on this to be helpful.

Mitsubishi WD-62827 Problem

Uh Oh! Unless this is something simple like a loose piece inside the projection chamber shadowing the screen it would have to be the light engine ($$$) warping due to overheating of its plastic housing. Check inside the cabinet for loose objects in front of the lens, then clean all the fan filters, then call your warranty company.

Vertical line splitting screen

We have had issues like this that ended up being the digital convergence module. There are surface mount electrolytics that suffer from dielectric absorbtion (dry out) and they must be replaced. It's much easier to replace the module than to repair it, the convergence will need to be reset once this is done. If you have the original remote control you can gain access to the service menu to reset the digital convergence. Joe Weibel
