Started dryer at 6 am, got home at 5pm it was still running

kenmore elec. dryer ran all day, wife started it at 6 am. I got home at 5:30 dryer was still running but with no heat. what cuold be the problem?

got home dryer was running but timer had stopped would that also stop the heat as well? Is is just the timer?

if it was set on timed dry replace timer if it was on auto dry check element thumbs up
