My scanner doesn't work

Have you cleaned the scanner part? Auto-feed uses a "line scanner" in front of the flat-bed scanner. Clean that, and likely the lines will be gone.

Its not drivers issue, hard ware issue.. Scanner assm faulty,replace it..For tech guys:Open flat bed glass, remove scanner assm clean inside reflector glass with ear buds & adf glass especially at home position.. lubricate on rail refix it back.. check it..

Step1: Open flat bed galss & optical scanner assm, clean flat bed glass, as well as clean internal reflecting glasses in optical scanner, ensure that don't use any kind of cleaners to clean the reflecting glasses, use ear buds to clean gently..Step 2: Replace optical scanner assembly..

1. Too much friction while moving the optical scanner unit.. Open the flat bed scanner lubricate the rail
2. Optical scanner unit faulty,remove the scanner unit open it gently, clean mirrors in side the unit with ear buds re-fix & clean the flat bed mirror neatly especially at home position.. re-fix as it is then check..I suggested this activity for only tec guys..

is this a flat bed scanner?? i'm guessing not. if its not you need to clean the thin strip of glass underneath the feed section of your scanner. use a clean soft cloth with some alcohol.

i dont think so, they are not that expensive, get a canon

The flat bed scanner assy is bad and needs to be replaced. The part number is Q3948-60191. Hp recomends taking it to a repair center for replacement

if you can open the cover of the scanner just clean the glass and use any lubricant to apply on head rod to move smoother .
