It's a metric drain plug, I think 13 or 15? (I have an aftermarket drain plug installed now). Use a box end wrench not a crescent wrench as you may round off the drain plug. Also, if the last person to change your oil wrenched the oil filter on, you will need an oil filter wrench to get it off. Other than that, a funnel to pour the oil without spilling, a drain pan to catch the oil as it drains out, and a few rags to wipe dirty oil spots should do ya. Wait until the engine is warm not hot since the oil filter is right by the very hot exhaust manifold.

My 1990 camry has oil in the spark plug tubes. Everything seems sealed. Got any ideas? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

If my memory serves me right, your plugs go down through the valve cover. There is a gasket around the spark plug holes that needs to be replaced. That is where your oil is coming from. Replace the outer gasket around the edge of the cover while you are at it. Hope this helps.

1990 camry 4cyl 270k miles intermittant rough idle

Sounds like you have an intermittant problem, check all your wirirng, then you can move on to ignition related coil reluctor wheel ( in side the distribitor electronic control module again inside the distribitor. It could also be a fuel system problem do you hear the fuel pump come on when you turn on the key, the fuel pump should cycle until it devlops adequate pressure ( usually 3 - 4 seconds)
