Problem for U-Line 75R Refrigerator

Refrigerator compressor motor will not run.

Refrigerator is powered (light comes on when door opens), but the compressor motor does not start, no matter what setting on the thermostat. It is about 7-8 years old, and worked OK until recently.

- Fan does not run, so I'll replace the thermostat myself. I've got the thermostat removed... where can I get an exact replacement part via the web? Any parts supplier links?

- I found an exact replacement thermostat at RepairClinic.com. The part number is 2766-S, their Item # 940414. Cost was $61.51 delivered. replacement is very easy... the trickiest part was finding the thermostat coil location, which is behind (and at the bottom) of the heat exchanger panel at the back inside the refrigerator compartment. Four screws and spacers hold the heat exchanger to the inside wall, and two bolts hold the coil to it. This fixed my problem and saved me many $$$$ for a service call or complete replacement of the refrigerator!

- Wow... if that thermostat from eBay is identical to the original part, that's half what I paid! Good find! Reassembly is just as easy as the disassembly... piece of cake!

thomasfrank, Thanks! your info helped me big time! I tested the thermostat with a multimeter for continuity and got nothing. You tips helped me get it out. I found the part on ebay for $30 delivered. Wish me luck getting it back together!

Does the fan work? If yes then the compressor has a relay and overload that might be bad. Or it could be a compressor that is bad. If its a compressor then you will need to have a tech verify that it is the problem. If nothing is running then it could be a thermostat thats not switching it on. Let me know if you need any more help with it.
