I lost sound from my Denon AVR 682 last night. Display and video are coming fine, but no sound on any input source setting. I have also noticed that a loud click noise that used to come after turning it on is not coming any more, but just the low click noise of power relay only. Any idea, what could have gone wrong and how to fix it? Thanks a lot in advance.

    Thanks for your reply Txtooltime.
Yes, I tried all audio source including tuner and clean all audio connector. To over rule problem in remote I try used all the buttons on unit itself. but still no sound. I even opened its cover s checked relay. I see power relay is clicking fine and working as it suppose to to turn the unit On and OFF. but all the other audio relay seems dead. Another thing I noticed that one of the transistor very close to Power Transformer is getting very hot, I am not sure if its normal or it got burnt. I have this unit for last 6-7 years and never had any problem. But I always noticed when I turn the unit ON or OFF immediate after low clicking noise of power relay, there was a loud noise of some other relays which I guess connects audio circuits and I am not hearing that loud noise since this stopped working. Any suggestion, where to look for and what components could go bad here.
I am comfortable even doing soldering etc to replace any component if I have to. I used to do lots of hobbies project in Electronics long time ago, but not any more, since I jump into IT. But I am quit comfortable that I would be to handle this, if I get right pointer where to look for and what could have gone wrong?
    Thanks a lot

Reseat all audio connectors sometimes they get dirty. Do you have surge protection? Do any other audio functions work? Clean your remote change the batteries the mute may be stuck. I vote for the battries being weak and the remote will not clearly send all signals.

Most of the time the problem is power because the older units switched the audio with relays as you stated. I don't know if you have a suppressor on this unit but, if it got hit by a spike the problem is most likely a control circuit. The transistor in question may be the key, Look at the circuit board and look for a burned trace (most have traces on both sides) and with no power to the unit you may be able to trace it with an ohm meter (rember that the capacitors could still have a charge so check with the voltage first so as not to burn up your ohm meter. If you recognize The bridge start there and look for small blown fuses( sometimes low ohm resistors). You may have to test live just stay in the secondary side of the transformer using your volt meter and do not switch to ohms as this will blow up your ohm circuit in your meter. Finally you can toggle the relays manually by taking the cover off and using a pencil eraser while the unit is on with all the cables connected.

Good luck this is pretty deep and I have fixed this problem before by repacing the transistor that controlled the relay that I needed. I hope this helped and just to let you know thw score is not always if this fixed the problem but you can give a good rating for teaching in depth trouble shooting skills.

I cant connect my Denon avr 682 to my pc via optical??

I would change your setting on your receiver to digital. its probably on analog. look for a button that says that. You might have to change your input have a look at the rear and see if it says, DVD optical or CD and choose that input.

I have a Denon AVR 790 for about 8 months now. Hooked up a combo DVD VCR player using the red/yello/white cables. It worked fine for about 6 months. Now I cannot get the DVD or VCR to play. I get sound,...

Hi,
If dvd combo player is only video source connected with Denon AVR 790 then unplug yellow video wire from Denon and plug it directly in TV input, now video signal will go directly to tv and sound will come from Denon AVR 790 speakers during dvd playback.
This is simple bypass that wont effect surround sound of dvd playback.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

Denon AVR-682 center channel has no output

You may have had the receiver set to "Stereo" mode, or Analog instead of "Digital" or "Auto" (automatically switches to digital when it detects a signal) modes. Also, setting it to "Direct" (2-channel from an analog source) could result in loss of center channel. Or your Surround Parameter dial (on the higher-end Denons, at least) could be set to a 2-channel mode.
Finally, if your digital inputs are incorrectly assigned (e.g., COAX1 instead of OPT1, or OPT2 instead of OPT1) for that source, the receiver will use the Analog signal which is stereo-only. You could get a center channel via Dolby Pro Logic II but it would be a "matrixed" signal, not the "real" center channel you could get via digital input using Dolby Digital or DTS.
(If all else fails, re-check your center channel speaker wire connections. It's very unlikely, but also possible, that either the receiver center channel amp or the speaker has failed.)

Denon AVR 1910 - no sound from v-aux or tuner

The tuner is the best source for testing audio issues from a receiver since it uses an internal source for audio. This problem could be two separate issues. Check the tuning in the tuner to make sure it is on a station that you are receiving. The newer Denons will not play any audio is the station is not coming in. Be sure your antenna is connected and tune the station to one that comes in clear.
What source is hooked up to the V. Aux? If an iPod it is common that the volume on the ipod is down .

No sound from any source from speakers

check your connections again and ensure you have the audio going out. With many tv's you need to change a setting in the menu, double check that as well.

How do i hook up a PS3 through my denon avr1905?

ONCE YOU CONNECT THE OPTICAL CABLE AT THE DENON, YOU ALSO NEED TO CHECK THE AUDIO SETTING FOR THE INPUT USED AND MAKE SURE OPTICAL IS SELECTED AND LAST ONCE YOU SELECT THE SOURCE INPUT USED TO CONNECT THE PS3 TO THE DENON PRESS THE INPUT MODE BUTTON ON THE FRONT LEFT OF THE DENON UNTIL YOU SEE DISPLAYED THE WORD AUTO, THIS SHOULD GET YOU SOUND AS LOND AS THE PS3 IS OUTPUTING AUDIO OVER THE OPTICAL

Denon AVR-3805 zone 2 no longer working

time to reset the microprocessor. See page 87 in manual.
1) switch off the unit using the main unit's power operation (small power button)
2) hold the PURE DIRECT button and DIRECT button at same time and turn the main unit's power operation on.
3) wait for entire display to flash in 1 second intervals

now the speakers need to be set up again but zone 2 will be working. i suspect a power surge causes the microprocesser to be corrupted. i put a power surge protector and have not had problems (lately).
