Maytag Neptune Front Loader - E2 error code

My washer is on and throughout the whole cycle it is continuously beeping and blinking the E2 error code. Does anyone know what this means? This code is not in the book. I'm hoping its not the same as the 2E one i had when the replaced the Electronic Control Board.

same problem, what does it mean?

  • ShellZ Jan 06, 2008

Apparently, the E2 code means a button is stuck on the touch panel. I had service come out twice. First one said he couldn't do anything because to test it, it had to be blinking the code - even though it did do it, he shut it off and then it wouldn't do it again. Second service tech was more helpful. He replaced the whole touch panel and control board, haven't had a problem since. Hopefully I won't my warranty is up at the end of the month...

I had the exact same problem. I had no idea what was wrong since the E2 code is not in the owner's manual. I've just turned the machine off and started it over. I haven't done anything yet to fix it since my warranty is over.

Maytag MAH6700AWW front load washer continuously beeps E-2 all through the cycle for no reason. No one has touched or pushed in any of the buttons.

The first time my E2 code came on the washer won't rinse or spin. I checked the drain pump to make sure it was working. (1) Take the back off and pull the two drain lines off pump. Be careful the line going to the drain has a backflow flap, make sure you don't tear it.

(2) On the other side where it drains from the washer to the pump is where I found a bobbie pin that had collected lint and was blocking the drain flow.

When it can't drain the E2 code comes on to let you know it won't rinse or spin.

Make sure to unplug machine before removing back,

Hope this helps everybody with E2 problems.

Another solution is if you have the E2 code you may have your water level set higher than your load in your washer. This will cause the E2 code and the washer will continue to add water, but will not rinse and spin out. We have had 3 sets of the different Neptunes and 1 set of Whirlpool. The Neptunes are the worst for this, we were thinking it could also be too much soap? Or a soap sensor?

For the people who are having problem with water lying in the bottom of the washer. Do you use your washer more than 1 or 2 a week. If the pump is working correctly there should be no more than a half a glass of water left in the drain pipe right before the pump.

When I originally called maytag service they didn't know either, they had be down for a different code. However, when the tech came and called his tech support, the stated that it was a code meaning that a button had been pushed and held down for more than 30 seconds. The first thought my 4 year old had done it - I told him he didn't stay still for more than 30 seconds let alone hold a button. As for the vibrations with the drawer I can't offer much help as I don't have a drawer on mine. Maybe the load is heavier and off balance slightly? Or maybe it is slightly unlevel to do the attachment of the drawer or a loose bolt or something. I do notice that mine does move slightly though and every once in a while I give it a little push back to straighten it out. Not sure that this really helps you....

I have a Maytag Neptune washer, 18 months old. I have had problems ever since I got it with the E2 code. I had the service man out numerous times & he couldn't determine the problem. I called Maytag & they couldn't help me either. Thanks for the information..

My other problem is I have the drawers underneath the washer that cause a lot of viberations. Anything that is on top ends up in the back on the floor .It is so noisy.& it shakes the floor I have had the repairman out numerous times, but they haven't helped. My sister just bought a new washer & the salesman warned her not buy a Maytag. He said there are to many problems with some of the models. Can anyone help me with this problem?
