It starts with Dell Scrn followed by Windows Logo, then it stops

My Dell Inspiron 6000 running on Windows XP Home. Suddenly developed a peculiar problem. It starts with Dell Screen followed by Windows XP Logo, It loads some programs, then as Windows Logo disappears, the screen goes blank and does not come back again. I tried Dell diagnostics, it did not find any hardware problem. I tried System Restore, still no solution. Please suggest a solution. C. Biswas Email : [email protected]

Dell Diagnostic did not find any graphic card problem. Windows System Restore did not help anyway. Dell factory Restore, I did not try as then I will lose all my data. As suggested by Dell, it will be used as a last resort only.

Sounds like it could be a graphics issue. Have you tried a factory restore?

Should not be with the hardware This seems to be a problem with windows.Try starting on safemode. Otherwise you may have to reinstall Windows.

Well, i'm afraid it may be a major problem with windows. If you get a hold of a Windows OEM install disk, you may be able to run a repair install, which would repair most issues of windows, but leave your data intact.

My Dell won't boot up at all. Tried booting up in safe mode and everything. Nothing seems to work.

Press F8 the moment you see Dell logo screen and select Last Known Good Configuration. If it still doesn't boot to windows, your operating system might be corrupted and needs reinstallation.

Dell systems has an Image Restore options. In Vista, press F8 on the Dell Logo Screen and select repair your computer. If you're running on XP, Press Ctrl+F11 to boot from the Factory Image Restore partition. Follow the instructions carefully to restore system back to factory image.

DELL Inspiron disk failure how to recover OS in new hard disk?

Hello,

Unfortunately you will need the restore disk to correct this problem. Even if you copy the old disk to the new, chances are you will copy the corrupt files and have TWO bad copies of xp. You can order the restore disk from Dell on average about $30.

Good Luck

Blue screen on Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop

OUCH... Might need a new harddrive or motherboard. Does it even let you go into the bios? Maybe you can do a full reinstall to save you the dough.

When i start up my dell inspirion 6000 laptop the logo comes up and then screen goes black

When you see the Dell logo, it means the system is booting and you see the splash screen that is generated on the motherboard.
Apparently this is where it is stopping.
Here's what I would do: First when you boot the computer, press F12 to get the boot options. Choose the diagnostics and run the system diagnostics.
You can also try to press F8 to get the computer into safe mode, but I'm thinking if you see nothing other than the splash screen, that may not work. If you are presented with Windows boot options, choose safe mode and do a system restore.
The last thing you can do if you have the Dell system recovery disk is try to do a repair from that CD if it allows you to do so.

Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop won't boot up

Hi,
Pleae reboot your system and when you see the Dell logo , press the F12 key a couple of times .
In the menu, select only HDD diagnostics and post the results back . If the harddrive fails, then the only solution would be to replace the same. If the hardrive passes , we may be able tp fix the system

Thanks

Inspiron 6000

If you purchased your I6000 after 2005, then it still has the PC Restore option. For Dell system with Windows XP, your can restore your computer to factory settings by pressing CTRL+F11 when you see the page after the big DELL Logo. It's a BLACK SCREEN with a blue bar at the top and it has www.dell.com written in white. Usually this screen will show up in between the DELL Logo and Windows Logo.
