Re: Blurred, uneven printing

I would first try going to printer troubleshooting screen on your PC by clicking the "START bar" then select "Control Panel" next select the printer icon and then select the "Troubleshooting Printer" this will guide you through all the steps to aligning your print heads and cleaning the print cartridges. If that doen't solve the problem for you, I would then go to the internet and type in then enter the model of printer you have. If you find any of these suggestions helpful, please rate my solution. Thanks D. Lange

My printer is printing blurred letters on documents. how can I fix this. I have tried cleaning the ink cartridges but problem persists

If this isn't a driver issue I'd check to be sure the print head and ink cartridges are secure and not loose. Also check the drive belt on the head to be sure it's not slipping or broken.

Even though my black cartridge is full, my black and white documents are so light they are unreadable. My color cartridges are close to being empty. Can this be the cause?

printers use all cartridges to get the correct colour even black
best get a new colour cartridge then realign the printer with a test pattern

My 5180 will not print black. it has a new cartrigde

Your print head is separated from your cartridge. I think that your print head is clogged, and that is why you can't print even with a new cartridge. The cartridge in your case is just a tank with ink, the print head is inside the printer.

You can do a software cleaning to unclog the print head.
  1. Click "Start", then "All Programs", then click on HP and then click on "HP Solution Center"
  2. Click on "Settings"
  3. Click on "Print Settings"
  4. Click "Printer Toolbox"
On the "Device Services" tab, click Clean the Print Cartridges and then follow the onscreen instructions. There are three levels of cleaning available, depending on how long you haven't print.

When the printer is done, it should print a test page. If everything seems ok, just print. If not, you will need to repeat the procedure.
You should also know that software cleaning uses a lot of ink.

Hope that will help solve your problem!

Yellow cartridge stopped workin halfway through a document although nearly full

Hi, one or two head cleans won't clear a badly clogged nozzle. Try doing 4 or 5 head cleans, wait about 10 hours for the ink to soften and do another 3 or 4 cleans with a nozzle check after each. You should see a gradual improvement in the nozzle checks. If there is no improvement then you need a head cleaning solution such as this one:
Others are available just try googling "inkjet head cleaning".
Note that head cleaning uses between 5 and ten percent of your ink cart's, if any are low on ink have some new ones ready. Hope this helps.
Please take a moment to rate this solution, thanks.

Lexmark Z600 ONLY print test pages

Seemes very daft, and sounds like a twit, but not really.

When I recieved the new cartridge I placed it in the correct cartridge retainer in the printer matching up the dark green colour of the cartridge and the top clip, and it printed nothing even after a tryed re-seating it.
So I placed it in the other thinking maybe I somehow might have placed it in the wrong slot, so I placed it in the other (Colour), and set that up as I did the other, and it printed a blurred page but then stopped printing.
After that I then placed it back in the other cartridge retainer, set it up as the previous times when it did not work, and then it worked.

Seems strange and simple, but it did not work the first time at all, and after faffing with it finally did.

This might help someone, and then again might not.

Cleaning the printer head?

print heads are built into the ink cartridges on HP's. I currently have this problem with another hp model. I appears that the firmware is stuck in what is called 'econo mode' and won't come out of it. good luck. sorry not more help.

Test print great, document printing blurred

Have you tried a new cartridge yet? I know it doesn't make sense at first but I suspect the cartridge has a problem and your test print isn't exercising the printer like the Word doc is. If the new cartridge works than the problem is probably poor quality ink, the hole you used to refill isn't sealed correctly or the cartridge or jets were damaged in some way.
