I think you mean TWAIN.

twain is a sub process that is used to make scanning easier between different applications.

Part of what you want to do depends on the application you are using to scan your document eg word, photoshop, etc etc.

Quite often when you install the software for a scanner it will ask if you want to install the twain components. You should click yes.

I would try to re-install the software for the scanner including any updated drivers from cannon support on the web.

Some applications may offer other methods besides twain to get yoyr scan. If you select one of those and try again.
