Changing from windows XP to Vista

I have been running Artlink V3 on windows XP and have upgraded to windows Vista and now my software won't run. Is there a patch I can get or am forced to pay hundreds of dollars to run new software? Please help!

I was just having a similar problem with re-installing v3 on XP. I googled HASP4 (as that's the name written on my dongle). I ended up downloading a new HASP driver and noticed that it said it supported Vista (both 32 & 64 bit). Try downloading and installing the latest driver to see if it'll work. If not, I'm afraid you may be forced to either use an old XP computer or you may need to upgrade. Here's a link to the site:

The file I downloaded and installed was "". When prompted, save it to your desktop, double click the zipped file and then double click the "hdd32.exe" file and it should install. After completing the install, I opened up Artista and it was able to sync with the dongle after a minute long pause.

Again, this was a new install on XP, not Vista. I'm assuming it'll work on Vista based on the information on Aladdin's website.

Unfortunately there is no fix for users of version 3 who have upgraded to vista.
The version 4 of Artista software does work in Vista. I have tested this and it appears to me to be related to the software "dongle" protections.

Which artlink is compatible window7, aurora 430 and embroidery unit.Artlink6 is working but doesn't allow me to write to machine.Editor lite v4 doesn't pick up dongle.Nothing wrong with USBports

This sounds more like a driver issue than a software problem. The ArtLink 6 software CD that came with the Aurora 430 had drivers for XP and Windows Vista. However, these drivers may have only been for the 32-bit OS. Windows 7 is the first version of the OS to have had a large number of 64-bit installations.

The latest drivers for the Aurora 430 is available here: . You will need to install two drivers; follow the directions on the site. Make sure that the USB cable is good and that you aren't using a USB hub.

If you have installed the drivers and the ArtLink 6 software still isn't working, ArtLink 7 is fully compatible with Windows 7 and the Aurora sewing machines. The only download site for this software that I've found is . ArtLink 8 is also Windows 7 compatible. However, I haven't found any documentation on the supported sewing machines.

The driver issue also applies to the dongle. Try this site: . However, since you have the Editor Lite v4, this dongle may not be supported under Windows 7. The dongle driver is not updated regularly. For some information about the software limitations, see .

I hope this helps.

(There is a patch for the v5 software to run properly under Windows 7. There isn't one for the Editor Lite v4 to the best of my knowledge.)

I have windows 7 and the futura software will not load into my singer quantum 200. I had no problems with my old computer which had windows xp. is there an updated futura software? Please help

Yes, there is. Go to Read the instructions VERY carefully. You will need to have the 2.5 Futura upgrade, which is available for $99 at Jenny's Sewing

In case you do have your old version of Windows XP lying around and don't care to spend the money on the upgrade, there is another alternative, though it does take a few more steps. But I use it currently on my machine to run my Futura and it works beautifully. It's available at and will allow you to run any old XP software on a Vista or Windows 7 machine, but only if you have your old Windows XP software available.

Either way, be sure you follow the instructions carefully. With the upgrade, I have two friends who I've upgraded their software to run their Futura's this way and they both are working fine. As I said, I use the 2nd way and have been for month's. Good luck!

Please check the Bernina website software upgrades for a solution. I use XP Home and have no problem but there was a software upgrade download for my Artlink version and also for the security key for the Bernina Designer 4.0 to install to make it work.

Hi, Unfortunately any of Bernina's software that is older than Version 5 , will not work with Vista. There are some software patches available on the web site, but there is nothing out there that will help you if you have any Version 4 software or older. Microsoft really through out a curve ball to everyone with VISTA as there is a lot of software out there that will not work in that operating system.
Actually the lowest cost solution would be to get a nice used computer that runs Windows XP. You do not need a super fast, state of the art computer to run embroidery programs.
I bought a nice used computer at a yard sale for $10.00 and it even came with the XP install disk. I replaced the hard drive just because they do wear out after a few years, installed XP in it and that computer is now in my wife's sewing room and it is only used for her embroidery work.
You might have a computer repair shop in your area where you can buy an older XP computer that has been reconditioned. The few dollars you would spend to get an older computer would cost you far less than buying new Bernina Version 5 software. It is EXPENSIVE! Good luck...bushvideo

Bernina has a new version of Artlink available from your local dealer. It is not free, older versions do not work with Vista, sorry for the bad news.
