Where can i find an ac/dc adapter for my philips portable dvd model no. PET714/94. i lost the adapter.. i want to know how much it will cause?

You are going to have to find out, the Ratings of that supply, you need to know what Voltage and current are supplied FROM it. Any AC/DC adapter, with the right, Current, Voltage and End Plug, will work. Often it can be found on the actual unit, itself. Or in the manual, under POWER: Now once you know this you can get a suitable one, the thing to watch though, is the Plug End, they are all different and critical. Now at places like Radio Shack, and the like, often you can buy after market adapters that are Voltage adjustable, PLUS they have a special "End" on them, that will mate with a number of differing "Ends" one of which, will no doubt fit the unit, as all regular ones are included and then some. Then there is eBay.

I work for COBY tech support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-727-3592.

I strongly advise you to NOT use any ac adapter other than one from COBY. A replacement will only cost you $6. If you need the power cord as well, the total cost will be $12. Please call the above number and one of our agents will give you the instructions on how to order the part(s) from COBY. You'll send COBY a money order through the mail and they will send you what you request.

You can also send me an email to and I can capture all your information for the shipping database and then reply with the instructions. This way you can avoid being on hold. Using any other ac adaptor can cause damage to your player.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. I hope I've earned a positive rating from you today.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Need Replacement AC Adapter

Go to:

You need to input the correct voltage, amperage, the correct polarity, the correct outer diameter of the plug, the correct inner diameter of the plug. Don't worry about the input voltage, 117, 120, and 125 are all the same.

Power cord/AC Adapter

Unless your have some technical background and a multimeter, you are risking at least the battery pack of your laptop and worst case, the laptop itself.
Most devices that accept an external adaptor are somewhat protected against applying the wrong polarity of voltage but that protection is primitive and depending on the 'universal' (this really should be 'multipurpose-not 'universal) adaptor used, the protection itself can fail, exposing the circuitry inside the laptop that controls the voltage from the adapter to damaging voltage; this would get much more expensive than replacing the original adapter from the manufacturer of the laptop.
You did not mention the brand/model of laptop you have and with only the adapter listed, we can't help you much.

Missing AC adapter

If you look at your DVD player, it will have information such as 5V, 2.2A. This information will help you choose the correct AC adaptor. Head over to The Source, FutureShop, BestBuy, etc and bring the DVD player in.

As for a universal AC adaptor. These range from $15 - $50. Just make sure the one you get has the correct plug and voltage/amp range and polarity for it. The salesperson should be able to help.

Here is a picture of such an adaptor. This is a picture of the back of an electronic device, showing 5V and the polarity. If your player has no information with the AC port, you will need to look for a label on the device with this information.

Go to Radio Shack with your DVD player and manual if possible. They need to know the voltage and weather it is ac or dc. Radio Shack handles all types of charges ( ac adapter ), and will have the one you need.
