my PSP goes to a dark screen after entering a specific game. It is saved in the memory stick. I see the game is there but once I enter it, it goes black for a couple of secs then, nothing.
I tried reformatting the memroy stick using th PS, tried to pull out stick then put in, tried shutting down then on...

First, you have to find the game you want, and download it to your computer.
Once the PSP games are downloaded, connect the PSP to your computer
by using the USB cable that comes with the PSP console. Change your PSP
console into PSP mode by pressing the "Home" button. Next scroll left
to the "Setting" column and scroll down until "USB Connection". Press
"X" button to enter PSP into USB mode.
To download the PSP games into your console, the games must
be copied and downloaded onto the correct folder in order for the games
to work. And the correct path is PSP > GAME in order for the any PSP
games to work correctly. If the "PSP" and "GAME" folder does not exist
on your PSP memory stick, you need to manually create the folder with
folder name in ALL CAPS.
Once you have finished downloading or transferring the games
onto the PSP memory stick, you can disconnect your PSP from the
computer. From the PSP console main menu, scroll over to the "GAME"
column on your Sony PSP and continue to scroll down on the memory stick.
Press "X" and a list of game files will be displayed. Scroll downward
and you will be able to see the games you have just installed.
Press "X" again to confirm your selection and play the PSP
games. I had tried to practice the steps above many times in my PSP and
it worked all the time. Hopefully it will also work for your console
not necessarily, and its memory stick for psp its memory card for ps2 and it is basically used only for saving games and in psp if you switch off the console and switch it on again it does not quit the game but if you quit the game the and enter the game again it will start from the beginning because the game will not remember the place were you quit without saving it
Backup up your games on a PC. Then Format your memory stick and put the psp games back in the memory stick if this does not work try formatting your psp by entering the recovery mode HOLD R + HOLD POWER... Go to advanced/advanced config/format flash 1 and reset settings
if this also fails try using another memory stick on your psp
Try a "Reformat" or your memory card. here's how.
I recommend that you do this every so often regardless, and particularly when you first buy a memory stick. Reformat it, on the Sony PSP. So that anything added by the memory stick manufacturer is removed, along with any hidden files you might have accidentally added. You can format any size Memory Stick Duo in the Sony PSP by doing this:
Push the little HOME button on the bottom left of the face of the unit.
Use the arrow keys to move to the SETTINGS area, then move the up and down keys until you get to System Settings.
Once you are there, click on the "X" button and scroll up and down as needed to find Format Memory Stick. Click on "X" again to select that option.
The Sony PSP will now confirm that you want to reformat the memory stick (which removes every file and game save thereon, of course): choose yes and it'll format in just a few seconds.
Now you have a pristine new Memory Stick to work with and should have no problems with music, photos or other material you might wish to copy onto your PSP.
well, to run games on a memory stick you must have a certain psp hooked up to where you can play games on your memory stick, buying a psp from the store won't let you play games from the memory stick, you must buy a psp game,, im sorry
You most likely need to format the memory stick with the PSP. What may have happened is once you've upgraded, the PSP re-rooted itself into the memory stick. So it's looking for a folder that doesn't exist. (But that's just what I think...) I've had this problem also. After you format it with the PSP, it should work fine. As for your game files, they should still be saved on the memory stick. Search all your files with your computer then save them to your computer so they don't get formatted. After the format, put the files back onto the memory stick where they belong and everything should work fine! Please ask if you have any questions!
