Paper tray selection

Every day or so, my Optra will not print unless I put paper in the front feed letter tray. I have not changed any settings. It just started doing this within the last 6 weeks.

Go to Paper Menu > Paper Size > Tray 1 - note what the Auto setting states (Letter, A4, Legal, etc.) Pull the tray out to set what it is configured for. Then reinsert it & pull it out a few times, noting what the display show the Auto size show. It should match the tray's settings.

If the Display indicates otherwise, it means one of two things:

1) The "auto size sensing" board on the left may be defective. The left side of the tray has a matrix of 3 plastic tabs that stick out in certain order depending on the tray setting. If this board fails, it may show Executive or A4 when the tray is set for letter.

2) The tray may be in-between two settings. Try to readjust the tray length setting between sizes. (You will notice the plastic tabs will change order.) The last time you loaded paper it may have pushed it just enough so that it is no longer seen as letter by the auto sensing board.

I hope this helps...

What does load mp feeder letter mean? There is paper in the printer why is the printer not prinint

load mp feeder means To load the Manual Paper Feeder
You might have selected the printer settings for manual feeding. Hence you need to feed that papers in manual feeding tray.
You can change the settings to automatic paper feeding to get rid of this error.

Brother 2040 printer blinking paper light - I open all of the drawers, took out and put the cartridge back in, played with the paper wheels and it won't stop blinking!

Hello ,

This is due to your computer software selecting the manual feed instead of tray one usually because the software program decides that the paper size is not the standard letter size, such as envelopes, and has to go through the manual feed.

If you are having trouble finding the manual feed, it is found just above the paper tray, usually on the front panel of the printer.

If you are trying to print a letter sized document yet the printer still asks for the paper to be inserted into the manual feed, then one of the settings in the software you are using needs to be changed.

For most windows based applications, you can find a “page setup” menu; in this menu, there is a section that specifies the tray being used to print from.
Make sure the setting in page setup is set to “tray 1” and not “manual”

Thank you,

Please note that I pay $9.99 each month for using this service. I am trying to print 13" x 19" full color, RGB, using Photoshop CS4, from an iMac (Snow Leopard) to a Canon Pro9000. The error I...

The pro 9000 will make that switch for you unless the front switch is bad. You have to raise the front feed tray and make sure that the indicator light comes on and then you are ready to feed from the front tray. The back has to be open as well so the printer can draw in the paper all the way in from the front to the back and then start printing. You shouldn't have to specify in the dialogue box, as the printer knows when it's set up properly for the media you select.

HP Laserjet 5000dn

if you using office go to page setup and select the tray(s) that you want to use for the first page and other pages ( both must be the same ) unless you only want the first page as letter head and the rest on plain paper or something along those lines ?

Also if you go into the properties of the printer and go to advanced and then click on the printing defaults button and see if the options in there are the same or different to whats in printing preferences.

If they are set to tray 1 then it will default to tray 1

I dont get prints when I give print command but when I use the

What does it say in the display?..load paper plain letter....load MP feeder? I think the problem is the following. On the menu right arrow over to the paper menu. Hit select...it then gives you sub menus...paper type...paper size. Go to paper size...specify the tray your using...most likely tray one. Hit select and see what size paper its set on. I'm assuming your trying to print on letter size. If it says something else like legal...executive..A4...change it in the menu to letter. If it changes to letter hit select to save the setting. Now if it won't change in the menu pull open the paper tray. The back paper guide is real sensitive on these machines. You have to make sure the geen/blue tab on the back is set exactly into the letter size slot on the tray. That slot will be slightly bigger than the rest of the teeth you see on the bottom of the tray. If you have it set right then there should only be the 2 bottom tabs extending on the outside left side of the tray. Those tell the printer what size paper is in the tray. If theres 3 sticking out...you still don't have it set right for letter size. Okay..the last thing. Something that goes bad on those machines is the tray card. Its where those 2 tabs on the side of the machine I mentioned interface with the printer. They can go bad. You can either replace that card..or trick it. To trick it go back to the paper menu...paper size tray 1. Open the tray...and close it again. The setting on the screen will change to another size...do that again or until it changes to letter size. The leave it alone. You may have to do that everytime you add paper an reinsert the draw unless you replace that card. Hope this helps!

I need to reset the default settings on my Lexmark Optra S 1625

It sounds like they changed the Paper Type in the menu settings. I cannot remember 100% where it is on this model, but if you go through the menus, you should come across a Paper Menu option. In this menu, you need to change the Paper Type for Tray 1 to Plain Paper.

Printing envelopes

you can replace the paper in the main tray with the envelopes. this is the only way unless you have a secondary paper tray or manual paper feed that does not override the main paper feed

Paper source

I would suggest checking printer properties in the computer and ensure the paper size and source is Letter and set to Automatic Choose. Another choice may be to deleted the printer driver and re-install it. You can also go into the menu options until you get to Set factory defaults, press Select, then try the print job again.
I really suspect a program is controlling this from the computer.
To get a list of the existing printer settings, Select Menu and use the Right Arrow button until you get to Printer Menu Settings. The printed report should tell you what your actuall settings are. Maybe the default is set to Custom, instead of Letter.
The Set Factory Defaults option should fix most problems.
