Question about iRiver H10 MP3 Player

Slider disaster Please help ! My H10 iRiver is a couple of years old and has been as good as gold until now: i have been downloading cd's quite happily but last night after I disconnected the H10 from the computer and tried to scroll through the different album options, the slider suddenly seemed to have a mind of it's own ! When you switch it on, it automatically scrolls down to the bottom of the screen even if you aren't touching the slider. When you try and select an album to listen to, you can't because it scrolls down to the album at the end of the list. It is impossible to listen to any tracks because if you select a song, the slider takes the volume down to zero, hence you can't hear anything ! I haven't dropped it or anything so am at a loss as to why this has suddenly happened. Can anybody offer me any ideas as to what is wrong please ?

H10 wants to lock up

sounds like a hard drive problem...
need to see if you can still access your hard drive through the UMS trick
For 20 GB MTP Models
  • Make sure your H10 is turned off and disconnected from the computer.
  • Poke the "reset" button with a paperclip.
  • Turn on the hold switch (so that you don't accidentally turn the H10 on all the way).
  • Plug the H10 into your computer.
  • Turn on the H10 while holding the "O" button.
  • You will see the message "Emergency Connection" if you have done everything correctly. You can now let go of the "O" button.
If yes, try formatting the H10 hard drive, reload the latest iriver h10 firmware, and transfer your music files directly to the h10 music folder with Windows file manager.
Download and run Easyh10 free playlist maker, to build and save a playlist to your player.

Good luck.

iRiver H10 - Missing System Files
You must be connected to the internet for this to work: 1.Download the MTP Firm Updater Utility from iriver website - (Audio Jukebox --> H10) 2. Unzip file, run .exe file, go thorugh wizard (if you are not in mass storage mode, it will give you instructions on the wizard on how to change this) 3. Select Recovery 4. Finish going through wizard 5. disconnect iRiver from computer, and wait for it to update - your player should be good.
If the problem happens again, then uninstall Windows Media Player 11 from your computer and rollback to Windows Media Player 10 (you will NOT lose any songs by doing so).
Good luck!

Lost h10 iriver installation disk

You can download the software from this site;

Probably also from worldwide site.

As a work-around you can copy files with Explorer to the Music folder and use the Browser on H10 to play them.

Iriver H10 saying system Files missing

Try doing a format via windows explorer. Right click on the drive and then format as fat32. Then unplug and open iriver plus. Reconnect. See if that works. Good luck!
