If that is a coupling--2 white plastic pieces holding a rubber coupling? Rubber with three holes? If so, you need to remove 2 holding clamps to the water pump above the motor, separate it, remove two screws and 2 larger holding clamps of the motor, pull motor out and replace coupling...alingn motor and coupling onto gear, clamp it and return pump into its place.

I am new here, tried to post a photo of what I think you have but cannot just yet. Still trying.

Motor Coupling If the washer won't spin or agitate the motor coupling might have failed. The motor coupling connects the motor to the washer transmission. It is designed to fail if the washer is overloaded in order to protect both the motor and
Drive Belt If the washer won't spin or agitate, check the drive belt. If the belt is broken or if it isn't tight on the pulleys the washer won't spin or agitate properly.

Drive Motor If the washer won't spin or agitate the drive motor might be defective. This is not common. Check all of the other related parts to this symptom before replacing the motor. If the motor is visibly burned out or physically damaged, replace it.

Stator Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the stator assembly might be burned out. The stator is essentially one half of a motor, it interacts with the tub by creating a strong electro-magnet. If the stator burns out the washer won't spin or agitate. Check the stator for continuity. This part is often misdiagnosed.

Door or Lid Latch Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

The rinse and dryer are not functioning.

Whirlpool ,roper ,kenmore all have direct drive for the spin & agitate cycles the coupler is underneath about center behind the motor. It is a plastic coupling with a flex coupler made of rubber on both sides. Part #1195967 usually run between 12-20 bucks if this doesnt fix it you probably have a bigger problem motor or transmission.

Changing a belt on a kenmore washing machine

99% of kemore washers (anything after 1950)
dont have a belt. and
the back does not come off for repair, the front does, with the removal of 2 screws

If the washer does not agitate or spin the usual cause is a plastic & rubber coupling between the motor and gearbox. replacement gearbox couplings now have a metal hub to prevent further breakage.
If this matches the problem you are trying to fix, reply & I will step by step the replacement process, its 2 screws, 2 bolts, a hammer & dowel & some time, to fix

Roper Washer spinning cycle problem

This happened on mine as well. I determined that the clutch was bad. These are not belt driven but rather direct drive with a clutch/brake that controls the spins and agitate functions. Try washing an empty or very small load (like tshirts and underclothes) and see if that helps. ALso look underneath to see if there is any oil on the ground if so you most likley will need to replacet he cltuch mechanism... not an easy task for do it yourselfer!
