SOURCE: AC,DC, gas RV fridge Dometic

You more than likely need to replace the control cable between the upper and lower board. It comes as a kit with the upper board. You can also do a bypass test by unplugging your thermoster from the circuit board. The thermoster is the temperature control for the refrigerator nothing to do with the freezer.

SOURCE: window ac unit is not blowing cold air

When the unit is running, go outside and put your hand near the condenser fins, this air that comes out should be slightly warmer than the ambient temp. If it is not you will need to take the unit out of the window and out of its outer case and clean the condenser fins from the inside, this is no easy task as it is very hard to reach. You will want to get a small (toothbrushed sized) brass bristled brush with a long handle. Make sure the evaporator coil (in the front) recieves the same attention and wash the mesh filter that goes in front of the evaporator. Re- assemble and enjoy the cold air.

SOURCE: Electricity works, unit doesn't cool.

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

This is a 6 or 8 bottle free-standing wine cooler from what I can tell.

I am not having much luck determining if this is a manual defrost type unit or not. Given the inital sales price now of $79.95 I have to assume it is a manual defrost type.

There are a few things that can cause your problem.

1. PTC relay and KliXon thermal overload assy on the compressor.

2. Run capacitor

3. Temp control

You said the fan does not run so I cab not rule out the temp control.

I can not even find a parts break down of the unit.

With no fan running the very first suspect is the temp control but you can at least listen for a CLICK when you cycle it from off to any other position. If you hear a click I would start looking at compressor start / run parts.

If you have access to your units compressor note the manufacturer, hp if stated (1/8hp etc) and Model number.

Then call or visit your local appliance parts supply store with that information in hand. The will have a PTC relay / KilXon thermal overload AND run capacitor that will fit your unit. I am pretty sure that will get you going again UNLESS you have a broken wire somewhere.

The replacement parts are going to run about 50% of the cost to replace the whole thing.

Thanks for using FixYa!

York unit - 7 years old has Freon stuck compressor and cannot get to unit inside

Units typically have a 10 year warranty to original owner. 5 years if ownership transferred. So, a stuck TXV/metering device is the diagnosis??? If that is it, and no other repairs are needed, $1000 is outrageous even if out of warranty. $350-$550 out of warranty TXV

Last couple of years if our thermostat is set below 74 the ac will freeze up. The last 2 years we had it checked out and were told that 1)coils might be going out and 2) needs more freon. Once freon was...

Hello
If your going to have all the freon taken out, this current tech needs to find the leak.

Clearly from what you have said the unit has a freon leak.Freon is put in by ounces or pounds depending on the size of the unit, then you need to get the correct operating pressures.Coils do not go bad they either get full of dirt or get a hole in them.

An 8 yr old unit is a tough call, surley a new one will probably save some electric and come with a warranty.I would get some quotes on a new one, then see how much i could spend.

If both fans runs (inside and outside), check if the compresor runs , if does probably the unit is low in freon and needs to be recharged after the freon leak has been fixed (remember this is a seal system and it shouldn't leak), but if the compressor doesn't work , it could be the capacitor , the pressure switch (if it's low on freon ) or the compreessor itself. But befor do anything ,if you have a digital thermostat replce the batteries.

Freezer wont work after defrosted

Please keep in mind, I'm attempting to diagnose you appliance without being there and with very little info. Thanks
If the sound is a double click, then after about 2 or 5 Min's another double click. You have a bad capacitor.
If it's a low hum. It sounds to me like you have a low side leak in your freon sealed system. When you unplug the unit, the freon pressures equalize. This put higher pressure on the low side of the system than it has when it's running. If you have a low side leak, it will drain out under the higher pressure.
NOTICE
(Industury standard- 5 year warranty on all sealed systems) This means that if your unit is less than five years old and it is a sealed system problem. (Freon leak, Compressor) The factory will cover parts and labor. You should not need a receipt if it's less than 4 years old.

2002 TRANE XE 1000 AC - small leak

that is no longer considered a small leak. having to add freon every 5 years is a small leak. you have a massive leak and it needs to be repaired or replaced imediately. you could be charged for freon release by the epa. check the coils and every joint and valve for oil drops or seepage or actual air leaks. for something that bad, you could use soapy water (dish soap) on the joints. where it bubbles is your leak. do not use soapy water on the evaporator (cold) coil. regardless, you need it repaired or replaced and it turned off until you can do so. it's either pay the epa $32,500, or get a new ac.

AC not cooling during the day

Your AC cooling efficiency is low when he ambient temperature is high and naturally it cools well when the outside temperature drops.

Please remove the filter on the grill and try to clean it under the tap water and after removing all the dust fix it back to the unit. This would increase the cooling efficiency of the unit.

Your AC is also five years old. Please avoid frequent opening of doors or windows.

Ensure that the exhaust fan and the blower of your unit are functioning normal.

The technician might not have done a proper job in fixing the area where the refrigerant would have leaked out. Please check the refrigerant pressure to ensure that no further refrigerant leak has taken place. Or even servicing your unit he would have punchered the tubes resulting in very slow leak of refrigerant resulting in no cooling or less cooling. It takes around a month to feel the pinch of it and the refrigerant. One fine morning after sometime the unit will run and it would start throwing hot air instead of cool breeze!

I recently bought a 4 ton 14.5 SEER Rudd Spilt system using R-410 and matching Rudd furnace. This system replaced a Lennox 10 SEER 4 ton unit. Now that it has gotten hot in Baton Rouge LA 90-93 degrees....

Sounds like the Unit might be low on charge. But without correct readings not sure.
The new unit with 410 will actually cool better due to higher boiling point temp. of freon type.Poor air circulation could also cause problem.Such as dirty filter, too slow fan speed, dirty coil. Also could have obstruction in freon lines either at pump,in line set,or in coil.
Get someone u trust to check it out and ask for their Rudd Dealership Training Credentials.

AC WON'T COOL

Sounds like you have a freon leak or your compressor has stopped working. You will probably need a service tech. If it is out of freon, don't let them just add more freon, make them find and repair the leak first. Good Luck.
