Flash not working

The flash on my Casio EX-Z1000 stopped working. The operation lamp flashes amber then red. My camera won't take a photo while in flash mode. I have to turn off the flash before it will take a photo.

Sounds like a burn out, or a bad lamp.  The flash is subjected to a huge jolt of electricity each time it fires, and breaks easily, especially when hot.   If you are taking many flash photos, you should stop after 15 or so, to let the flash unit cool.
Good luck with Casio, if you are still under warranty.  It will probably mean mailing them the camera for fixing, or replacing.  Sometimes you can take it back to where you bought it for repair.

How do I download pictures from my new Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 to my Mac running Mac OS X 10.6.5?

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

You can always format your camera and that would erase everything on your camera. In picture taking mode press menu and go to setup, go down to format and press right arrow and confirm steps through there.

Operation lamp - amber light blinking

I do not know the solution to your problem but I can tell you that when the camera is working properly that amber light means the flash is chargeing or your camera is doing something like saveing a picture so if your battery is low your flash might not charge properly or your camera might have something wrong with is memory. Sorry i couldn't be a better help.Good luck!

Red eye

Find the flash mode menu on the camera (keep pressing the button with a lightning flash on it) until you find the anti-redeye mode (has an icon that looks like an eye). Try page 71 of the manual (http://ftp.casio.co.jp/pub/world_manual/qv/en/EXZ60_e.pdf) This works by firing a rapid series of low power flashes for a second or two before taking the picture. These cause the subjects' pupils to contract in response to the light, creating a smaller window on the retina when the main flash comes. A.
