Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Starting dryer When I press the start button it makes a humming sound. Sometimes it starts, and sometimes it don't. It's not starting hardly at all anymore. It's only started doing this about 5 loads ago. I'm sorry!  I don't know how the Zanussi all-in-one got put in place of my Matag  Nuptune front load dryer.

I have a maytag dryer that sometimes when I hit the start button will start and run for only a few minutes and stop and wont start again for a while and does a humming noise when it does star why?

Sounds like the motor is going into thermal overload (Getting hot) it may be caused by the motor itself, or could be overloaded by bearings or fan etc

Dryer hit start button and it hums

sounds like a motor is going bad or you have a sock in the blower fan but if it was a sock, it wouldn't work at all

Kenmore dryer Tub will not turn freely. Feels as if it's hung up. When you you press the start button it will just make a humming noise.

A guess, sounds like you are hearing the motor running but no tub belt as it is probably broke. If you are asking then you probably don't know how to fix it so you should call a repairman. Or the tub guides are wore out either way a repairman can help.

When the button is pressed to start the dryer it begins to hum as iff the drum is stuck. It does this for about 5 to 10 seconds then shuts off. If I attempt to start it again nothing happens. sound like...

If you hear the motor humming and not starting at all it most likely has a severe friction problem with the drum or motor. It could possibly have some type of garment jamming the blower wheel preventing the motor from starting too.

Open the dryer door and manually rotate the dryer drum counter clockwise (CCW). It should take very little effort to rotate the drum. If it's hard to rotate that could explain why the motor hums instead of starting up. If it turns freely, shut the door and see if will start. If it still hums and not start it may have bad motor or a low voltage supply to the motor.

When I push the start button the drum seems to be stuck but I can pull on the belt and it goes around.

It could be that you have a drive motor problem, Ive seen this before. Sometimes the dryer will make a buzzing or humming sound when you push the start button.
