Frigidaire Front Loading Washer Leaking

My Frigidaire Front Loading Washer (GLTF1670A) Started leaking. I removed the back panel and ran a cycle to see where the water was coming from. The water didn't start coming out until the fast spin cycle and it was gushing from the top of the tub. there is a hole about the size of a quarter on the front section. I put duct tape over the hole but now there appears to be some sort of pressure problem (water won't fill up).

Is there supposed to be some kind of valve in that hole?

With any front load machine manufacturers suggest to leave the door open after cycles to help evaporate the water - this is even done in top loading machines nowadays. Also clean the unit with bleach water and rinse in high temp water cycles.

I have a Frigidaire GLTF1670A washer. When the washer goes into the spin cycle, I have noticed a progressively louder belt slipping sound. The washer is 7 years old. Do I need to replace the belt, or is...

Disconnect the washer from the electrical supply then remove the screws shown holding the rear access panel to the washer’s rear panel and lift the access panel off.

Cushion the bottom of the cabinet opening as shown to avoid hurting yourself with the sharp edge.

Plug the washer in then start a loaded spin cycle to check for belt slippage and the motor operation itself.

Replace the belt if loose or slipping. Remove the belt by turning the tub drive pulley and rolling the belt off the pulley.

Install the new belt in reverse order by wrapping it around the motor pulley and on one side of the tub drive pulley then turn the pulley to the other side in such a way that the belt wraps completely around the pulley. Secure the rear access panel back into position to complete the procedure.

I have a front loading frigidaire washer gallery 1670 series

I would say yes, its worth keeping. Mine leaked a while ago and I bought a new pump assembly. I think it was about $70. You can remove the two screws on the bottom of the bottom face plate and remove the cover. The pump is on the right side. Look for goo leaking out of the shaft seal. Verify before you buy parts, It could be the rubber boot torn or something similar.
Don't reach inside untill its unplugged.
You can replace the shocks easily too. Lots of parts places online with illustrated parts catalogs.

Leaks water

Okay, to check for your source of a leak, start by removing the 2 screws on the lower front panel of the machine. This will let you see inside. As you are running the washer, watch where the water is coming from. If from the front, you may have a hole in your boot (the black rubber up front) If so, you may need to replace the boot (the part comes with step by step instructions). If coming from the middle, your tub seal may be going bad. A quick fix is tighten the 12 or 14 bolts that go all of the way around your tub. This will only be a temporary measure. The tub will have to be taken apart and the seal replaced. (this is a 1 1/2 hour - 2 hour procedure for 2 technicians) If it leaking from the rear, you may have a bad tub bearing. You can remove the back panel to be certain, but usually a bad bearing will be accompanied by a roaring noise durring the spin cycle. As for the dryer leaving brown marks? Usually the front seal has been dammaged. Run your finger around the front of the drum (where it meets the front panel) the gap should be about the same all of the way around. If it is not, you may need a new front seal. (this is much cheaper and less time consuming on the dryer compared to a seal on the washer)

Front load washer

Hitchhiker, you don't have to remove the front of the washer. The original boot was glued in areas around the door. They came out with a new design because of water leakage on the bottom. The new kit, part number 5303937187 comes with a spring that holds it on to the panel. You can do one or two things, if you don't have the leaking problem, glue the boot back on. Or you can order the new kit, it comes with instructions and replace the whole boot. Check it out, it might be covered under service flash #26-758BR. In any event this job can be done by leaning the washer back against the wall to make room between the tub and front panel. You are going to need an assist, it's better with 2 people. back.
