Re: problem

The WindowsXP setup program will hang when it tries check hardware at the beginning of setup. It won't recognize the linux file system as a legitimate drive and freeze. You'll need to either format the drive and lose all the linux data, or buy a second drive to install Windows on and make the windows drive the primary drive, and temporarily disconnect the linux drive. After you install Windows you can reconnect the linux drive as secondary. You can check the forums for your version of linux and find help on setting up a dual boot system so you can boot from Windows and linux. You'll just have to make adjustment to the linux bootloader config file.
Linux is a great operating system, but is not for the faint of heart.
Good Luck

Booting computer

When you but premade machines from DELL or Gateway for example they just give you a recovery CD with the drivers and basic install for you. You should have a Windows licence Code on your machine, you can order a new CD from microsoft if you wish to re-install your machine this way.

7VT600P-RZ does not boot!

Sounds like a cabling issue with the drives. From the description, you are running PATA (parallel) interface drives, using ribbon cables. Make sure you cabled the master to the master drive, and ditto for the slave. They are easy to reverse.

From what you say, the system is recognizing your optical drives, since you can attempt a reinstall from one of them. That really does point to a cabling issue with the hard drives.

As another diagnostic tool, try removing the slave drive, and see what happens.

Wanted better operating system then linux suse on my msi u90!!

Yes you can change to any operating systems at any time. You can change to linux's earlier versions or later versions, or you can change to windows wp/vista/me/98/95. When you buy a computer it comes with an operating system, However you can change it to whichever operating system you want. all you will need to do is purchase whatever operating system you want, it will come with installation disks, pop one in restart your computer and it will walk you threw installing it. ( I have done this with XP & Vista, I am assuming Linux is the same.)

No sound device after complete installation of all drivers.

Hi there.

I had to install WindowsXP from scratch, due to a virus infection. After complete installation of the WindowsXP, I installed all the drivers from the disc that was included with the motherboard. Yet for some reason, when I open windows media player, there is no sound device. What seems to be the problem?

Can anyone of you help me withit?

Operating system installtion problem

First try to replace you memory module(s) (RAM) should you be using more than one ensure that they are both of the same frequency then when installing windows xp at the setup menu where it asks about partitions delete any present partition and formatt a new partition with the NTFS (do not use the quick formatt, use the more thorough formatt). thereafter you windows will be installed and you shouldnt have any further problems.

Hi you will need to contact the manufacturer of the computer,
Dell, Acer, HP etc [ not the motherboard manufacturer] and select their support option. Some manufacturers have a lock code on the hard drive and if you can get the unlock key then you will be ok. The only other option is to replace the hard drive.
