All I need to know is how to change a CDX_CA700 CD player to AUX

On the Sony unit (CDX-M100TF) you need to activate the AUX input from the stanby screen. It may work with yours as well...its worth a try!

Turn stereo "off". Press menu and there's an option for the AUX input.

Note: This may not be accesible when the stereo is 'on'.

Aux in runs only back speakers and no volume control

This also happened to me, I just replaced the cable and works fine now.

I-Pod hook up

I think the red/white RCA plugs on the back of the CDE-7858 are outputs for the sub-woofer -- they won't work for aux inputs like iPod.  According to Alpine dealers, the 7858 will not accept an aux input -- bummer, I had the same desire. R, Jim

Switching on the auxiliary input

According to the manual, the AUX input is an optional accessory.

Check to see if the RCA jacks are labeled. I believe they are pre-outs only.

Best of Luck.

Mp3 to aux input

Try putting the unit in standby via the "SRC" button FIRST..., then press the menu button and cycle through to the "AUX 1" option and activate this....then press menu button again. When the unit is next switched on, you should have an "AUX" option accessible via the "SRC" button which will cycle through all of the availale modes ....standby-tuner-cd-aux etc etc.

Turn the ignition key to on or accessory position, turn the stereo off, then hold the function key for a couple seconds, the stereo will turn on and you scroll through the menu with the left and right arrow buttons and change settings with the up and down buttons
