Re: set default photo viewer

Right click on the image file and choose "open with" then "choose program" at this point you have to choose the "browse" button even if the program you want to use may be in the programs window.

Browse to the program you want to use to preview image files. Select it and put a check in the "always use selected program . . . " box. This will assure your choice "sticks" in explorer.

You will have to do this with all the image file types (jpg, bmp, gif,) that you DON'T want photoshop to open - but there should only be about 3-4 common ones.

Re: set default photo viewer

Dear Susan, generally MS doc pics are copy paste images or they're embedded in the document through screen shots. If you click the image it would find the default image viewer and open it in it. If you want to remove this feature you might like to right click the image in MS word and remove the hyperlink feature if its from URL. You might also like to save picture by right-clicking it and using option save as...

I recommend not to click images in a document because it would always search for a default program to open it.

If that was helpful please press fixya.

Rather than being a "software pirate",
download the *FREE* software: GIMP: Graphic Image Manipulation Program, from and use it as if it _were_ Photoshop.

I can not understand that what is mask and what is the use of mask in adobe photoshop Please help me pls pls pls pls....................................................................................

Mask is used when you want to protect part of a photograph from alterations you might need to make to other parts of the image.

Masks are incredibly useful for blending photos and hiding portions of images without altering them directly.

RE: Photoshop CS3 extended - windows XP When choosing filters to apply to an image (usually a standard RGB photograph - 8 bit) the preset background colour is a really horrible beige! How can this be...

I am having a little trouble understanding exactly what you mean, so bear with me. I tried to reproduce the issue you are having and could not. I am not totally clear on what you mean by a "preset background color."

I'm going to go from simple to more complicated.

In filters before you apply, press the alt key and restore defaults to all the filters you use. The cancel key turns to default.

Save your pic to a photoshop file, not a jpg, png, etc. Make sure that there is not a little lock up in the right corner of the layer. Is there a an actual background layer that has the color you talk of? Does the filter pick the color up in photoshop file?

Go to edit again and the preset manager. Select swatches. Use the arrow next to the text box to see what you have selected. You can reset swatches to factory. Make sure you don't have something crazy like pantone metalics set.

Go to image, mode, assign profile. Change to another rpg (adobe.)

Go to image, adjustments, take a look at the color balance and saturation settings. Do you see the color>Does it correct?

Make sure you do not have a photo filter or alpha channel that you accidentally set to apply automatically. You can check photo filters out in the image adjustments drop down toward the bottom. One of them is pretty orange- beige. Alpha channels can be a color mask for filters. should have been cleared by restore defaults.

Under edit, check your color preferences. You will see that you have selections from the drop down at the top of this popup. Make sure it is not custom. North American general is generic enough. You can switch the RBG setting here.

Under "Window" select "Channels" to see the colors in layers. if you click the "eye," it removes that color layer. When you do that, is the color you complain about there?

I think if going through this list doesn't solve your problem you should email me a pic so I can test it and see! Very intriguing. Good luck. Please let me know in by rating and commenting if this didn't work. Thanks.

Photographs randomly disappear each time a document is used.

Before you open up Publisher and this document, open up task manager and note how much RAM is used as well as your paging file usage. After you open the document, take another look at your RAM and paging file usage again. If both have increased dramatically, you may want to use smaller images (via compression for JPEG files or lowering the resolution of the images first). Or you could invest in more RAM for the computer.

Doc chnages required

You can't.  You could try loading the Adobe professional software, but I do not think it lets you edit PDF's
If the Doc contains words you can OCR (Optical Character Recognition) it (ie read it) edit it an dthen create a new PDF.
