Lens suddenly stuck open and won't power up at all.

The camera worked fantastic for a year or more. Then one day the lens stuck open and it will not power up. If I put brand new batteries in it and power it up.... the blue power light comes on for a second or two, then goes off. The lens doesn't retract nor does any other camera functions work during this breif one or two seconds.

I can't imagine the cost to fix this is worth putting back into the camera. Is this now an expensive disposable camera? :(
