When i send mail to someone, it has my corrent yahoo mail address in the 'from' space, but when they hit 'reply' the address changes to someone else's hotmail address.

E-mail accounts are usually hacked in 3 ways:

A weak or easy to guess password

Opening attachments in malicious e-mails containing spyware

Keylogger spyware infection on your computer that logs your keyboard strokes

The disclosure of the password.

Report it to Yahoo support by selecting forgotten Username and password on the login page, answer security questions that only you should know the answers to. Then ask them to block the account.

Then open a new account with a different username and take care of its security by creating a strong password that nobody can guess, never revealing it to anybody.

Also, never open attachments in e-mails from anybody you do not recognize.

Protect your computer as well as you can and scan it regularly for malware

Follow these steps to get the problem fixed :
1. Login into your yahoo mail
2. On the right side top click on option and then clcik on more options
3. Then cick on spam on the left when you do that on the screen there will be an option to bloack an email address. Put the email you want to bloak there and then click on add and then at the top click on save changes.

Just check the mail address full and then try to send the mails
or else change the Browser and try and use Mozilla Firefox to get fast browsing

send that person an e-mail and see if you get a reply message within a minute or so that says: "general mail delivery failure" or "unable to deliver sent message. invalid e-mail address, etc. If you get such a reply, the account is closed. If you DON'T get a reply like the ones above, the account is good and functioning.

check on yahoo phones, with your problem. is a security issue (someone is controling your emails and you are the donkey if anything hapens "legal Problems"), ask for closing acount and open a new one.

Or change to another Mail server. like your internet provider.

Try sending a message to yourself and then replying to it. The recipients might have a cached entry in their address book causing a the reply to be delivered to a different address.

If you have another email account with Hotmail or Gmail, try sending back and forth between them and your Yahoo account and use them for testing.

Does this happen with everyone or just one of your e-mail contacts?

Sure they can. But it will take some effort on your part. you will have to contact Yahoo and tell them of your problem, more than once or twice. When they start to reply and tell you the different ways to resolve your problem keep writing to them and save all the emails they send to you. this happened to me when someone hacked into my account and changed my passwords and e-mail address, I had to get a new e-mail so that I could send and resend all this information to them and the problem was resolved in 10 days of getting their e-mails telling me how to resolve it. good luck and be persistant!
