You must replace the moter control boared it comes in a kit with the moter--aso strongly suggest you inspect the machine control board for burns if so replace
It probably has a broken strut. open the door. remove 2 screws from the hinges on the frame. now on the opposite side of the door remove the other 2 screws. close the door and wiggle the front panel loose. tip panel 45deg forward and lift off. look with a flashlight on left and right at bottom.you will see 2 struts. one or both may be broken. could be a broken displacement or inertial switch or wire

i would never suggest working or attempting to work on a machine covered by guarantee but this sounds like there is a fault with the heat cycle, obviously the machine keeps tumbling until the heat reaches the right temperature, with a heat fault it will not advance, to test without removing screws etc, press any heat option button like economy or turn heat dial to no heat etc, see what happens next. hope i have helped, if so rate me please, please note most engineers know if a machine of that age has been worked on and this will void any guarantee

SOURCE: KitchenAid Washer with no spin
Hi, so you have a kitchinaid washer that is not spinning and making a horrible noise.
More than likley you have a bad drive coupler. Which is located if you tip the unit back. not all the way, just enough to see the inerds of the washer. I usually prop it against the wall. There is your pump and attached to the pump is your motor. Between the motor and the transmission is your drive coupler. take the pump and motor off to gain acces to this part. there are 2 clips for the pump and 2 clips for the motor. usually 2 screws holding the clips for pump 2. Take the motor off and you will see the coupler. there is a grommet that goes between the 2 pieces sometimes that gets worn out and you will see black soot on the ground. That's a good indicationg that the coupler is the culprite

Hi,
The reason for your washing machine not to spin would be of a faulty motor coupling.
If the washer will fill and drain, but won't agitate or spin, you may have a broken motor coupling. The noise of the motor engaging, lack of agitation and ability to still drain are the usual symptoms. This is a common fail item with this model washer through normal wear and tear. Newer versions of the coupler are more resilient and resist breaking
The motor coupling is located between the drive motor and the transmission and takes the place of a drive belt. They do wear out and can break. The replacement part number is included in the link I provided and is an improved upgraded coupling that is more resilient. It should last longer. If you have questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
A replacement coupler can be purchased on line at appliancepartspros.com for about $11. Just use the part number in the link and "Search by Part Number" for your search criteria.
