Problem for GE Superadio III AM/FM

Milwaukee Jobsite Radio 49-24-0200 Ser.-414c Volume Fades

I have the above radio and love it. But as far back as I can remember, it has this annoying problem. Over time as you are listening to the radio, the volume level either drops out or shifts over to the right speaker. Sometimes I can turn on or off the volume control and the volume will come back or it will again broadcast out of both speakers. Does anyone have any ideas???

the volume control needs to be cleaned. if you can carefully take the back off, the volume control may have some small openings in the housing. spray contact cleaner (or even a small amount of wd40) in it and work the control back and forth and see if that does it
