Usually, after a power outage, a power spike (when the power returns) can disable/blow the fuse in the AC adapter for the Wii.

First:
- unplug the Wii's power cord from the wall, and leave it unplugged (from 5 mins. to 5 hours). Then, plug it back into the wall. (Unplugging the power cord from the back of the Wii will not help. You need to unplug the power cord from the wall.)
- This usually helps reset the fuse circuit in the AC adapter, and your Wii should work again.
- THEN, buy a SURGE PROTECTOR power bar, and plug all of your expensive items into it (to prevent this from happening again).

Second:
- open the panel on the AC adapter box in the power cord; since the screws are proprietary, you will need to creatively use existing tools to turn the screws
- check the 3A fuse in that box; if it looks blown, then replace it

Third:
- it might be cheaper to replace the AC adapter with another one

Fourth:
- get the unit repaired

Hope that helps!

SOURCE: wii controller won't work with gamecube game in wii console

Gamecube games don't have the proper coding installed on the discs in order to receive commands from the Wiimote. You'll have to have a Gamecube controller to play Gamecube games even on the Wii console.

Wii won't turn on

Wii Console Won't Turn On, and Has No Power Light Situation:
  • The Wii console won't power on, and the Power LED is unlit
  • The console powers on, but shuts off after a few seconds/minutes
  • Attaching an accessory to the console turns the power off

Information:
This issue can be caused by an accessory or power surge tripping the circuit breaker on the AC Adapter.

What To Do:
  • Check any accessories attached directly to the console to make sure that it is licensed and undamaged. Unlicensed or damaged accessories shouldn't be used with the console.

  • Try using a different wall outlet, or plug a different device into the outlet to make sure the outlet is providing power.

  • Perform an AC Adapter Reset. (How To)

Situation Not Resolved:
If the system still won't power on, the system and AC adapter will need to be repaired. To start the repair process, click here.
Wii Console Turns On, But Has No Power Light Situation:
  • The power LED on the system does not come on, but the system still powers on and plays

Information:
If the Wii Console is still working normally, it is likely that the power LED is broken.
This issue will remain limited to the Power LED, and will not get any worse.
Unless the system is having other problems, continue using the console regularly for a few weeks to determine whether this interferes with the enjoyment of game play.

Situation Not Resolved:
If, after using the system for awhile, the Power LED not coming on is too distracting, the Wii Console does carry a one-year warranty.
We are happy to inspect and, if necessary, fix the system at no charge within the warranty period. To start the repair process, click here.
