Question about Pioneer SIR-PNR2 SIRIUS Radio Receiver

1 Answer

New anteena. I just replaced my broken sirius anteena with a new one and started to get "Anteena Error" displied on my pioneer radio. Can't figure that one out because before my previous anteena wire broke, it worked just fine with no problems. I contacted Sirius and they told me that the anteena can be defective? Any help would be appreciated greatly.....

Re: New anteena.

Honestly, There most likely right. It happens more often than you'd think. Try unplgging the brain for a minute with the power off then turn the radio back on after youv'e plugged it back in. It may just need to reinitialize but I doubt it.

Broken antenna jack on a Sirius Stratus 5

Are you missing the center pin, by chance (which often snaps if the plug isn't lined up correctly or if you wiggle the lead to connect or disconnect)?
I fixed mine by inserting a 1.5CM piece of very thin but stiff copper wire into the dimple. You may have to 'coax' it a bit with needle nose pliers.

My receiver comes on and I get the error message "Acquiring Signal" and everything appears to be connected. Just started doing this. Using the Aux. jack in my Nissan. still need a sirius antenna plugged into the device. If you just started using this you may just need to resend the signal. Just call the sirius/xm people and follow the recorded prompts to send a new satellite signal. Then make sure you are parked somewhere that it is receiving a good signal and wait. It could take up to 30 minutes to reset completely.

Constantly goes to "linking" whenever I select Sirius. Sirius tells me that means an antenna problem. However, I have tried a new antenna with the same results.

The unit needs to be replaced. solder pins on the PC board of the unit are broken. Clarion has about 100,000 of these units with the same problem. You can find a replacement online for $50 that's been fixed & the problem should not re-occur. Sorry for the bad news. Hope this helps

Lost antennae reception

either the antenna is broken, or your service was cancelled. Contact SIRIUS for your account info. Did you pay to have the new radio turned on? I believe they have a $75.00 "activation fee".

Signal Fading In and out

Most of the Xact models use the standard Sirius antenna. Unfortunately Xact no longer supports satellite radios. You can get a replacement antenna from any Sirius dealer and see if that works. Sounds like the antenna wiring might be broken or shorted out.

Bad news my friend. That model isn't supported anymore. Sirius is pretty good about replacing the radio for free and discounting the accessories. You will get one for free. The docks are reasonably priced. The boombox you might be able to get a discount for. The new docks are more designed for multiple units should this happen in the future to you again (like Stratus radios).

There isn't much to service on the radios. If the board is dead it isn't worth fixing. It's cheaper for Sirius to replace it.

Static sound

Some Pioneer radios allow for seperate audio controlls between FM CD and External sources like you Sat Radio. It may be that your settings are out of wack (Prob the factory setting which is crap), try that out and let me know.
