I have a whirlpool gold side by side that makes aloud popping noise when opening and closing right door

check the evaporator fan in the freezer and also the one near the compressor, one my be shot and squeeling

I need to confirm your model number. Is it as listed GD2SHAXLQ Reason is there where many different designs. You are saying that the temperature logic at dispenser control has gone out of control and flickering? I think we need to check that part and the wiring going to that diaplay because it appears there is a short circuit. I have the service manual and can assist you if you would like to do this yourself, just let me know, Thank You, Sea Breeze

the problem is the door latch have a look and see if the door pin (plastic) still has both prongs they should look the same from side to side if they are then the tension wires in the doors clamp have come apart. if one side of the door pin has snapped off (most common problem from slamming door closed) replace the door pin

Instead of what you think the sound is, try and see what is happening when you actuate the ice lever. open freezer door, depress the door light switch, or tape it closed. now actuate the ice dispenser lever, does the flapping door open, that which opens to allow ice from bucket into your glass? Now look at the bucket itself, do you see the gears rotating? remove the bucket from the door, and repeat, do you see the auger shaft rotating?

Either of these are a complex repair, one I would not recommend DIYers to try on their own, for they require taking the door apart, and if not done right, your door may not close properly. Normally I have no problem advising a repair, but there are some i dont, this icemaker system, and compressors.

I would try replacing the bottom door cam assembly. I have also seen the actual cabinet making a popping noise during opening which is there is no cure for that.

I would check for an electric "flap" that opens & closes when ice lever is depressed. My GE has one and it has been fouled before causing the ice to be stuck inside the door. Hope this helps!

After reading these posts, I fixed my refrigerator door in less than 5 minutes. The little black plastic cam on the bottom hinge was loose. To fix it, take the hinge cover off of the top with an 8mm socket, and remove the three 8mm screws holding the top hinge on. Remove the door by lifting up off of the bottom hinge and set it aside. On the bottom hinge is a black plastic cam held on by an 8mm screw. The screw on mine was really loose. Tightening it and putting the door back on made it work like new. You probably don't have a bad cam, just a loose one.

there is no suction system. flush your defrost drain tube with boiling water and a turkey baster. should get some pretty nasty sludge out and sound will go away.
