Question about Canon PIXMA iP90 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Color RED way off,

And I use only the Canon BCI - 16 Color ink cartridge.  Changed it - didn't get better.  Changed it again - ditto.  Trying to print from MS Word using my MacBook Pro.  I diddled with the color according to the iP90's utilities, and then changed the ink yet again.  These ink cartridges are expensive, I could buy a whole new printer soon.  And if I do, you can bet it won't be a Cannon.  This printer is a year old.  It should work right still.  I disdain the disposable society. Thank you for your assistance. reno

I have the same problem and agree that with as expensive as the cartridges are I could buy a new printer.

These have another user replacable disposable handy print consumable, its the expensive print head. You need one

All Inkjets are expensive to run compared with purchase price.
Colour don't come cheap.

I think I put in a wrong colored toner cartridge. Pages printing in wrong colors. Can't find a list of the cartridges I should be using.

The make and type of cartridge is generally given in the users handbook/manual provided with the printer. If you do not have that ,you can log on to Canon web site and then go to support. Select your printer model and you can find the the specification of cartridge to be used with your printer. The list of the cartridges is given below: BCI-3eBk Black ink tank, BCI-6Bk Black ink tank, BCI-6C Cyan ink tank, BCI-6M Magenta ink tank, BCI-6Y Yellow ink tank You can also go the this link and download the manual if you do not have the same http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_ip_series/pixma_ip4000#Overview

The same 4 bulk inks

The bad news: Canon does not make any new printers that use those ink tanks. Their line of new consumer printers is the PIXMA series. None of these printers uses the BCI-3 series of ink tanks. I am sorry for the bad news,.. The good news: I have personally been successful in finding used, operational printers for $1 to $5 from local thrift stores and for a little more at local "Recycled, Used, Computer" type of stores. You may even try craigslist and put out a wanted ad for the models below,... anyway I hope this helps you out.
Here is a list of models that use all of the BCI-3e series of Black and Color tanks
Color Printers: i550, s400, s450, s500, s520, s530d s600, s630, s630 Network, s750, all BJC-3000 Series
Multifunction Printers: MultiPass F30, MultiPass F50, MultiPass F60,MultiPass F80
Other Color Printers (partially compatable) i560 & i860 (only uses the BCI-3 black tanks,..but BCI-6 for colors)

No ink cartridge holder for my cannon bubble jet jc85? Cannot place color ink cartridge without this piece.

Is the part you're trying to put in labeled BCI-11Clr? If so, that is an ink tank, and you need to have a BCI-11e cartridge to hold it and a small black ink tank. Canon's online store has the BCI-11e on clearance sale right now -- $27.99 instead of the normal $47.75. You can check this out here. (This cartridge comes with both a color ink tank and a black ink tank installed, so you can save your present tank as a spare.)

Canon IP90 Service error 5C00

BCI - 15 is not the same as the BCI -16. The look and feel the same, but the ink is handled differently by the printer - so while, in theory you could use them interchangable, the output would be terrible... Canon set it so that you can only use a BCI 16 in an IP90.

Buy a BCI - 16 cart and try that.

Cartridge recommendations

You can purchase Canon cartridges directly from Canon here. The BC-10 is a cartridge that prints with black ink only. The BCI-10 is the replacement ink tank for this cartridge (a new cartridge comes complete with an ink tank). The BC-11e is a cartridge that prints both black and color, and has two ink tanks, the BCI-11 black and BCI-11 color. A new BC-11e cartridge comes complete with two new ink tanks.

Canon Smart base MPC 400 Printer

This printer needs these cartridges: -

1. (BCI-3eB) Black Ink Cartridge,
2. (BCI-3eC) Cyan Ink Cartridge
3. (BCI-3eM) Magenta Ink Cartridge
4. (BCI-3eY) Yellow Ink Cartridge

I think you need to clean your cartridge connectors with alchohol and retry.
