My 1994 chev truck won't turn over. I assumed it was the starter and replaced it but it still just clicks when I turn the key. I put a new battery in to test it and cleaned the connections with zero change. I do have the dual battery system but the auxiliary is not hooked up. I also have a viper remote start system in the vehicle. Is it possible that it is the relay for the dual battery system? Could it be related to the viper system? I have checked all fuses and the solenoid is new (with starter). Thanks for any help
Is the purple wire at the starter getting a 12 volt signal with the key held in the crank position? is the engine ground cable cklean and tight? are the starter cables ok?

The PATS security system would prevent the engine from cranking if the system does not "see" the right chip in your key. If the system is working correctly, the light should go off after you turn the key switch on. You should have power on the small starter wire when the key switch is in the start position.
Your starter motor is either not getting power or in need of replacement. Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with your car.
Also check your battery connections for no corrosion there as well as by the starter motor. Low voltage circuits in a car are extremely vulnerable to poor contact issues.
could be the neutral switch try and crank it while moving the shifter around also try and put power to the small terminal on the starter that will tell you if the starter is bad or the wiring or switches
Assuming you have a good battery there is a small wire that goes to the battery terminal on the starter (big red wire) That is where you get power to ignition switch. this is a fusable link wire If you pull on it slightly and it streches it is burned into.Resist the urge to replace it with a non fuseable wire, it is at any parts store
did you replace the solenoid as well? double check battery cable connections and make sure it is metal on metal contact. If that turns out ok, then it may be relay or switch.
I'm having the same problem. The dealership keeps telling me it's the starter. I've replaced starter and still have the same problem. I have had all the wiring and new key swith put in and still have the same problem. I guess were in the same boat!!!
