Ok often when fridges and airconditioners have not been used for a time the liquid that gets compressed becomes thick and sludgy. This sludge is like cholesterol in arteries. That is what is happening in your system.
In essence it needs a service to recapture the liquid gas and refill after cleaning.Especially the control valve
You could try a quick fix by turning the unit upside down ( if that's even possible in your situation) this often relieves the blockage by gravity, allowing it to be returned to the bottom of the tank. The restarting allows the circulation to start again and will eventually start to work correctly. However this is often only a tempory fix and will require a service intervention to replace the valve that may be stuck closed and have the problem occur over again.
if you can see the valve, a thickened cyleinder somewhere on the cold pipe you might also want to try tapping it with a rubber mallet to see if you can unstick the valve.
even in the middle of winter the A/C should be run for a few minutes every week to ten days just to keep the liquid gas from becoming thick and sludgy. This applies to your car A/C as well

The place where the pipe stops getting cold is the metering device ,the pipe going into it gets cold and stsrts to sweat but nothing else does
