Ok often when fridges and airconditioners have not been used for a time the liquid that gets compressed becomes thick and sludgy. This sludge is like cholesterol in arteries. That is what is happening in your system.

In essence it needs a service to recapture the liquid gas and refill after cleaning.Especially the control valve

You could try a quick fix by turning the unit upside down ( if that's even possible in your situation) this often relieves the blockage by gravity, allowing it to be returned to the bottom of the tank. The restarting allows the circulation to start again and will eventually start to work correctly. However this is often only a tempory fix and will require a service intervention to replace the valve that may be stuck closed and have the problem occur over again.
if you can see the valve, a thickened cyleinder somewhere on the cold pipe you might also want to try tapping it with a rubber mallet to see if you can unstick the valve.

even in the middle of winter the A/C should be run for a few minutes every week to ten days just to keep the liquid gas from becoming thick and sludgy. This applies to your car A/C as well

Compressor runs but fans dont.

If the compressor is running and pumping with no heat produced, you have lost refrigerant.. Most modern freezers have a controlled fan so the coil can freeze before the fan starts.

Hoshizaki freezer stuck in defrost

most likely a fan not running or a bad defrost timmer. open door, press in and door switches and Feel or listen for a fan.. it is normal for ice to start to build on evaperator, this must be melted by a electric heating element when in its defrost mode..

Feel top of the compressor and tell me how hot after it has been running awhile. I need also that you advance the defrost timer=>. 216517400 Defrost Timer

clockwise slowly untill the compressor stops or starts. I need to make sure the timer is not stuck into defrost. I want you to leave the compressor off for up to 35 minutes. If the freezer compressor doesn't restart bt then simply again turn the timer clockwise slowly until it does and then stop turning. The defrost timer is location 23 in this photo HERE If you need to turn the defrost timer like this to restart the compressor then replace the defrost timer and this will resolve the freezing problem. If not we move to the defrost heater location 14 in the sme photo=> 216254600 Defrost Heater

Siemens American fridge freezer with ice maker, freezer too warm and pipe that water flows from to ice maker is hot, not making ice?

That is a very bad sign, but before you unplug it pull the machine out from the wall and check to see if it feels hot back there as well. Then remove the lower cover and find the condersor fan motor. Its the only fan back there. I'd willing to bet that the fan is not running. The purpose of the the fan is draw air across the compressor and blow it through the condensor therefore lowering the temperature on both parts. When its not working/ running, the heat from the compressor and the condensor is pass onward to the machine and the machine then acts as a heat sink

Compressor runs bypassed thermostat with wire that turns on and off compressor, but freezer cabinet is not cold 65 degrees evaporator fan does not turn on,condensor fan on,sttill no cold

If you have just turned it on it takes awhile for the fans to come on. The evaporator coil has to get cold about (10 to 20 degrees) and make a klixion fan switch to turn the fans ON.... Is the evaporator coils getting a frost pattern on them??? If not then the system may be low of Freon.. If the coil is completely froze up and you are getting frost back to the compressor..... then you have a bad fan switch or a door switch.... If you have a wiring diagram you can trace out the wiring.... It is usually down by the compressor or control panel... hope this helps.

Was staying cold and then just stopped cooling. compressor sounds like it comes on but does not stay on feels like it is running and gets really hot have not found a fan

Try replacing the compressor relay (no more than $30) ,but if still doing the same ; the compressor has a start problem and you might have to replaced it.

Condenser side & compressor getting very hot

There is a fan you should be able to hear in the freezer.(it may turn off when the door is opened so hold the door switch in) It's behind the rear cover inside the freezer. The only other fan is underneath the fridge at the back behind the cardboard cover where the compressor is.

Freezer defrosting

If this is a frost free freezer you may be he\aring the fan motors run and not the compressor. I suggest you call a qualified and trustworthy repairman and have him look it over for sure.
Short if that you'll need to feel of the compressor to see if its hot or cold. Vibrates or not. See if the fan motor under it is running or not. See if the inside fan is running or not

If either fasn is out start there as to why and effect repairs. If the compressor is cold It hasnt been running for a while and you will need to check voltage at the compressor and if t\you have voltage there you need to try new start components to see if it will run. If no voltage there check the thermostat (and if self defrosting) the defrost timer.

After this you can see why I suggest you call a quiulified repairman. way too many things to consider and keep you from making a correct diagnosis

If this helps you polease rate me as high as you can and thank you for using fixya.

Can a fridigidare fc5n chest freezer be recharged

If the unit's Compressor is not starting you need to bypass everything and test the compressor directly to see if it will run. best done buy a qualified Appliance tech unless your from and electrical background? also when the motor/compressor is tested they can see if the freezer starts to freeze down. Because of the cost of changing the Compressor and the fact that a lot of the gas leaks in these units can not be repaired due to the leak being inside the freezer walls a new Freezer is still the best option. Also when a Fridge or freezer is left to sit for 5 years the Compressor is likely to have seized and rust may ave formed inside units copper pipes. Cheers
I'd recommend a new Fisher and Paykel Chest freezer with a extended warranty. cheers
