INNER DVD/No Signal on Advent 1418A

We were watching a DVD and the picture froze and we pushed play, then it stopped again and then we tried to push the button to open the DVD tray; screen went black and said INNER DVD and then the words NO SIGNAL bounce across the TV.

SOURCE: Power light on but nobody's home?

The power supplies in most all the smaller combo units are prone to failure. They feed both the TV and the VCR and are underdesigned as they try to keep the cost of a combo affordable.
I've never had much success solving them - sorry
They always break that last time!

SOURCE: Advent tv/dvd 27 inch flat screen. Weird Cable and power and volume problem

I have read that if you unplug the unit for more than about 4 hours, it will reset to the factory settings, and that wont be a problem.

HOW DO YOU BURN A DVD ON A SONY DVD RECORDER RDR

Make sure your Sony input signal is on L1 or L3 (the inputs in back of recorder) or on L2 which is for inputs for cameras(located in front).Once you get a signal, you're where you need to be. Choose your recording mode for recording speed (pull down the flap on the remote control for this button and also the input button).
Choose from between1 hour and six hours. To archive really important stuff, stick with the first 3 speeds. TV recording can be on 3, 4 or 6 hour mode.
Push the record/pause button once. This will put the recorder into the record/pause mode and then it awaits you pushing it again to start recording immediately. Just pushing record will force the machine into a 3 to five second delay before actually recording anything so you might mess up and miss the first few seconds of your input. Suggest you use a dvr-rw or dvd+rw to practice on.

When your recording is done, just push the pause again. It stops recording but allows you to add more on to the first recording without starting a new chapter if you want. Just continue to release the pause button to continue.
If you are satisfied that you are finished, then push the pause button to stop recording. Wait for the info to be written(flashing message on screen). When it stops, you may play the dvd.
Notice- since the dvd has not been FINALIZED, you may only play it back on this unit without finalizing. It will not play on other dvd players unless you finalize it first.
To finalize, look on remote for the TOOL button. Press it once. Now push DISC INFO once. Use arrow keys and enter button on remote for the following. Scroll down to FINALIZE and press enter.
Use arrow keys to scroll to OK. push the ENTER button. Finalizing should take between 30 seconds and 2 minutes.

Warning- if titles or chapters are to typed in, it must be done BEFORE finalizing. Finalizing afterwards cannot be done.
Erasing can be done in part or all if using an RW+ or RW- disc

RELACED WATCH BATTERY BUT WATCH STILL STOPS

The best place to take is a jewelery store or some place that can repair watches/replace batteries that has a cyclonic quartz watch tester b2164de.jpg A cyclonic can detect if there is a pulse (the electrical signal that makes the hands move) even if the hands don't move. It can also spin the gears/hands to unstick the gears if some debris is holding them up. If there is no signal the coil or something inside the watch may have been nicked or something else is wrong with the watch and may have to go to a watchmaker/repairer or replaced.

Pre-recorded dvd won't eject/entire system frozen

Try unplugging the machine so it will reset itself. Then plug it back in. That has worked for me in the past.

Won't open

Try this trick. it worked for me. Using a credit card insert it into the Tray opening to remove the front cover of the CD loader. then using 2 fingers push the tray inwards while pressing the eject button. Do this 3 to 5 times. If this does not fix your problem. Send it for repairs.

Movies on my recorded discs freeze after a few minutes of play

Sometimes this unit gets "confused" - not sure why -- but try first using a CD cleaning disk and let it start and stop a couple times (sometimes lens gets dirty and does this) - if that doesn't help then try unplugging unit and leave unplugged (from wall socket) for about 30min then plug in, set local time and then see if the disks play okay - sometimes this "resets system"
