Arcing noise coming from TV

I have noticed some arcing noises coming from the TV every couple of minutes. The picture is fine, but the noise is pretty annoying. Any suggestions as to what is causing this or possible solutions?

Re: arcing noise coming from TV

Clicking, popping noise on certain channels. All connections checked for tightness, and sound is isolated to the TV, not cable box or home theater. What is the cause and fix? Does it involve an inhome service call?

G noise then loss of picture and sound

is that for over-the-air signal or HDMI or other cable source?

Because the former is pretty normal behavior for bad reception (weak tuner).

Good Morning\r\n i have a JVC Interiart 29" Flat screen tv which is 8 years old which has started making a noise when switched on,a very loud humming noise and no picture for a couple of minutes then the...

That usually indicates a capacitor going out in the power section or flyback section of the board inside. Depending on your repair shop this can be a fairly cheap repair (or not). Get an estimate and know what a replacement tv is worth. Sometimes its cheaper to get a new one than repair the older tv. As well power problems can stress other parts so it might get fixed only to fail later.

Green light flashes but funny noise comes up and no picture comes

there are two possible problem that you may have. First, your main board may be defective (this is the cheaper of two evil) and second your sustainer boards (these are the two boards on the sides of the TV use to power up the screen). you can get parts from or if you want to do it yourself. If you're not familiar with it, you can call ITI at 888-248-2708 and they could have a couple of techs go to your home and do it for you.

High pitched noise from inside the TV when picture comes on

Hello randapaint,

This might be from the IHVT (Integrated High Voltage Transformer), or more specifically a short in the IHVT causing it to arc, producing the high pitched whine, you are hearing. Take the back off of the TV and try to detect where the sound is coming from, more then likely you will notice it coming from the section that contains a large component with a large red cable coming from it, to the top of the CRT (picture tube). Replace the IHVT (with the exact same model) if it is bad.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Loud popping noise

The 23" CRT set may have a high voltage breakdown in the flyback transformer or focus divider. Take the back off and operate the set in a dark room. Look for anything that has a blue glow around it or sparks flying when the pop occurs. I won't guarantee this will find your problem, but it is definitive if you see these!

I once had a set with these symptoms. I stopped the blue glow and arcing by covering the focus divider with epoxy. It worked for a couple of months before the divider literally broke apart.

Jumping Screen

I've had a couple of these. The panel control board is going bad, but there may be a way to make it last a bit longer. If you go into the MENU of the TV, and turn off all the color correction, all the whistles and bells that come inside the tv to "make the picture better," it usually helps. Any kind of motion correction, or any kind of noise reduction (picture noise reduction) should be turned off. If the picture has a cloud of green pixels that seems to pepper the screen, then after you turn off all the stuff in the menu, unplug the TV for 5 minutes, and then plug back in. It should help the picture some.

Hope this helps...
